Join us this month as we dive into the in's and out's of The Hill Church. Our DNA illuminates three key relationships. Our relationship with God, Each Other and the World. See how Pastor Jimmy Steele unpacks this week by week!
3. We exist to glorify God by declaring the
gospel of Jesus Christ through our lives
together.
4. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set
on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people
light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on
a stand, and it gives light to all in the
house. 16 In the same way, let your light
shine before others, so that they may see
your good works and give glory to your Father
who is in heaven (Matt. 5:14-16).
5. Flight into the invisible is a denial of the
call. A community of Jesus which seeks to
hide itself has ceased to follow him.--Dietrich
Bonhoeffer
6. We believe the hope for San Diego and the
nations is the gospel of Jesus Christ.
7. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it
is the power of God for salvation to everyone
who believes . . . (Rom. 1:16).
8. We believe God’s primary means of making
His gospel known in the world is through the
local church—God’s family.
9. We believe our task or mission as The
Hill Church is making disciples.
10. “All authority in heaven and on earth has
been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all
that I have commanded you. And behold, I
am with you always, to the end of the age”
(Matt 28:18-20).
11. We believe our task or mission as The
Hill Church is making disciples.
12. Two moments in the birth of a church:
1) The invisible act of regneration
13. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the
Word of Christ (Rom. 10:17).
14. Two moments in the birth of a church:
1) The invisible act of regneration
2) The visible act of Baptism and
the Lord's Supper.
15. 16 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it
not a participation in the blood of
Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a
participation in the body of Christ? (1 Cor.
10:16).
16. 17 Because there is one bread, we who are
many are one body, for we all partake of the
one bread (1 Cor. 10:17).
17. 17 Because there is one bread, we who are
many are one body, for we all partake of the
one bread (1 Cor. 10:17).
18. 23 For I received from the Lord what I also
delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the
night when he was betrayed took
bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he
broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is
for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
19. 25 In the same way also he took the cup,
after supper, saying, “This cup is the new
covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as
you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For
as often as you eat this bread and drink the
cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he
comes (1 Cor. 11:23-26).
