Location based social media - Southbank marketing group event 29th August 2012

  1. Welcome to Kwai Chi’s presentation about Location based social media for the Southbank marketing group. For this presentation, there will be a focus on a couple of Southbank based businesses. In short, The Social Partners manifesto is to help our clients become the businesses that their customers want them to be.
  2. The first is BFI Imax. This is the search result via Google maps. Nintendo are no longer running their campaign so they should hire a new media agency to handle their PPC! This is a great opportunity for Odeon to market ticketsto watch movies. When you click on more info you get sent to Google+.
  3. The more info link takes you to a new Local tab on Google+. The reviews are all channeled through from Google’s own review system Zagat. Companies have to claim their pages in order to control any content on it. Notice that content is prioritised by who is in my circles above and beyond any other review.
  4. On Foursquare, the amount of check ins from my friends shows me the best places to visit in Southbank. Here I have the BFI Imax information pulled through from History channel.
  5. It’s important to not only manage Google+ and Zagat, but also every other location based site including Tripadvisor. Companies can now actively respond in public to negative reviews. Ultimately, a consistently good service is probably easier to manage than bad reviews online.
  6. The Facebook page is missing opening hours and a booking app. There is generally a lack of direct call to action to buy tickets which is the primary aim for many movie goers.
  7. The YouTube channel has not been upgraded to the branded channel free option. The video layout and links have not been updated in some time. People’s comments have also not been moderated or responded to.
  8. The video statistics show that it takes a long time for video content to hit a reasonable daily rate. The trigger of increased activity were from the two referrals “A” & “B”. The core demographic are male 25-54 year olds.
  9. Next on the radar is the Oxo tower restaurant. This is what a Google search result displays.
  10. The Zagat review average out of 30 is clearly displayed on the map. Clicking on the reviews or more info takes you to the Google+ page
  11. Photos and reviews can be uploaded on site via mobile as well as on a browser.
  12. Again, this page needs to be claimed.
  13. Tripadvisor have integrated Facebook functionality into their review system allowing users to see what friends of friends have said first before any other reviews.
  14. With so many review sites now updatable through mobile, it’s never been so important to make it easier for people to post positive comments as well as limiting bad ones through good service. Call to actions via QR codes or NFC are a good solution. Starbucks have enabled users to pay for coffee via mobile phone for about 2 years now.

  16. Using your mobile phone is about to become even more popular with Paypal, Square, Visa and Google all launching virtual payment systems. Here, you tap your android device on to the Google wallet scanner to pay for an item. Starbucks have recently just invested heavily in to Square
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9fOwfeIHgwStarbucks invested $25m into Square recently. Square allows traders to plug in a card reader into mobile phones and iPads to allow customers to pay for goods. For the Southbank group, I have put every key ingredient together to create some magic.
  18. The Southbank app allows users to seamlessly find out what’s on, where, with exclusive deals and social platform integration. Users will also be able to pay for goods on the app allowing them to add to their Southbank loyalty points balance.
