This document outlines a company's phased rollout of Agile and Scrum methodologies. It describes planning the transition over the course of 2012 and 2013, with two Scrum teams starting as a proof of concept in Q4 2012. Training was provided to all teams in workshops focused on real projects. Each team kicked off after training by assembling, collaborating, and completing their first Sprint. The phased rollout allowed for inspecting and adapting the approach over time. Teams converged on three-week Sprints and planning poker for estimating story points. Agile was found to catalyze improved engineering practices, but a successful transition requires ongoing effort beyond the initial launch.
