The 12 Rules of Facebook Fan Engagement
  1)   Use Images In Your Posts: Image Posts get 22% more engagement than
       video posts and 54% more engagement than text posts.

  2)   Schedule Posts To Go Live Before 7am: Businesses that post outside of
       business hours have a 20% higher engagement rate.

  3)   Post Important Messages On Thursday Or Friday: Engagement rates on
       Thursday and Friday are 18% higher than any other day of the week.

  4)   Keep It 80 Characters Or Less: Posts 80 characters or less in length have
       27% higher engagement rates.

  5)   Use FULL URL Not A Shortened URL: Engagement rates are 3 times higher
       for posts that used a ‘full length’ URL.

  6)   Ask A Question: Posts that end with a question have a 15% higher
       engagement rate.

  7)   Don’t Ask WHY: “Why” questions had the lowest number of ‘Likes’ and
       ‘Comments’ as they are perceived as intrusive and challenging.

  8)   Do Start Your Post With: “Where”, “When”, “Would”, “Should”, or “How”

  9)   Do Ask Followers To: “Fill-In-The-Blank”, “Like”, “Post”, “Take”, “Submit”
       or “Watch” Asking fans outright to take a simple action will drive the
       greatest level of engagement. Fans will listen and respond.

  10) Don’ t Use The Words: “Contest”, “Promotion”, “Save”, “Exclusive” or
      “Free Shipping” Words such as ‘Save’, and ‘Free Shipping’ scored the
      absolute lowest in fan interaction.

  11) Do Use ‘Softer Language’ Such As: “Event”, “Winner”, “Offer”, “New”, and
      “Win” Fans are happy to engage with “Events” and “Winning” offers.

  12) Post Coupons & Incentives: Retail brand posts containing “$ off” receive a
      55% higher user engagement rate, followed by Posts containing the word
      “coupon,” which is 39% above the average.
