▶ Football or Soccer, a sport played between 2 sides of 11 players with a spherical ball.
▶ In simple words, two teams containing 11 players maneuver the ball into the other team’s goal post
without the use of hands. Only the goalkeeper can use their hands and this is only in their penalty
area.
▶ It is played in a pitch having a range from 100-130 yards.
▶ The match is about 90 minutes long in which the game is divided into two halves. They are the first
half and second half. In some cases, extra time is also added according to the situation.
▶ Football is the world’s most popular sport. It attracts billions of people to watch it on different
platforms
▶ With more than 4 billion worldwide this sport is the most loved by players and players around the
globe.
4. Rules and Regulations
▶ The game contains many rules and regulations that should be followed during the
match.
▶ To make the match run smoothly, the rules should be followed.
▶ The referee ensures the rules and regulations in the match. If somebody violates
the rules then the referee has the right to expel them.
▶ In modern-day football there are also some 4th referees who handle the crucial
decisions in the game.

▶ There was no practice of playing in an organized way. There was no proper use of
guidelines.Any team would play anybody at any time.
▶ So, in 1888, William McGregor organized a meeting by calling all the teams. This
meeting gave birth to the vision of football leagues.
▶ The first teams that took part in this league were: Burnley, Aston Villa, Stoke City,
Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End,Accrington, Everton, Bolton Wanderers, Notts
County, Derby County, West Bromwich Albion, and WolverhamptonWanderers.
▶ The most popular league became the ‘Premiere league’which was the most-watched
league in the world.
▶ Due to great success different countries began to organize their leagues.

6. Formation of FIFA
▶ FIFAis the organization that is in charge of football all around the world. They organize
many tournaments that help to promote football all-around the organization.
▶ FIFAwas formed on 21 May 1904.
▶ Its abbreviation is Fédération Internationale de FootballAssociation.
▶ A conference was held in 1904 in which football representatives of Denmark, France
Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland took part. That conference led to the
formation of FIFA.
▶ The first FIFApresident was Daniel Woolfall of England. The present FIFApresident is
Gianni Infantino.
