Haiti has more challenges than most countries in the world, and it is no different when it comes to software delivery. ThoughtWorks created an electronic medical record system for the best and biggest hospital in Haiti. The journey was full of challenges including poor internet connection, low computer literacy of the users, cultural differences, availability of hospital staff, and more. In this presentation, Mario Areias talks about OpenMRS and how it was useful in delivering value to the hospital, thus making a huge impact in the community.
