Teams call with David Longworth from the BBC

The call was with David Longworth who works for BBC North as the apprenticeships and training
schemes manager and the head of apprenticeships and widening access at Vision+media.
Through this talk, Longworth told us about the opportunities that the BBC offer that we could
apply for. Two apprenticeships were talked about, one for journalism and another for production.
Both of these apprenticeships would start in September of 2023 if we were to apply for them this
year, the applications open in November of this year and close in February of 2023. The
journalism apprenticeship lasts for a total of two years with the production apprenticeship lasts
for a year and a half. Longworth described to us what the application process consisted of and
what we would have to go through if we were to be successful. If we were interested in either of
these apprenticeships, we would have to apply online, submit a video of ourselves, complete an
individual interview and a group interview. Longworth is on the interviewing panel and therefore
gave us tips on how we should be and what they expect from us as applicants, such as how they
don’t specifically look for certain qualifications, just a solid interest and passionate about what the
participant is applying for.
