OBJECTIVE
I love teaching. I want to continue to play a significant role in student success by providing rich opportunities for
students to build deep conceptual understanding and critical analytical problem solving skills.
PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
Experienced Teacher
Teach a range of Math and Computer Science classes and student academic levels ranging from pre-Algebra and
Freshman Study Skills to pre-Calculus and AP Computer Science over 14 years at Lakewood High School. I
currently teach Honors/pre-IB Algebra 2, Algebra 1, and pre-Calculus. I have demonstrated success in building
successful classroom culture, developing curriculum, and facilitating rich student learning experiences. I have taught
Career and Technical Education courses and collaborated with district career and technical education professionals on
curriculum planning and implementation.
Expert Communicator
Communicate key learning objectives, deep mathematical concepts, and other value messages in engaging, targeted
and differentiated ways with respect to audience and presentation format. I consistently receive highly positive
feedback from students, colleagues, customers, and others regarding my ability to communicate complex concepts in
meaningful and understandable ways. In my software career I was very successful communicating with executive and
employee stakeholder groups, and in giving online software demonstrations and project proposals to prospective
customers. I have also conducted webinars and many training sessions for teachers and technology users. I adapt to
each particular classroom, group, or one-on-one environment to achieve objectives.
Motivating Leader
Lead classroom projects and learning experiences, large business proposals that require coordination of a variety of
contributors, and curriculum planning sessions to maximize student learning and success in our department. I have
been very successful in achieving buy-in and quality contributions from students, colleagues, parents, customers,
executives and administrators, and other stakeholders. I have been the chair of the department chairs at Lakewood
High School.
Passionate Educator
Convey excitement for Mathematics, Computer Science, and other subjects in a way that engages others in the
content. My love of learning makes me enthusiastic as I continue to explore and utilize best practice techniques that
enable my students to meet learning objectives and communicate their understanding. I enjoy finding new ways to
assess student understanding and adapt instruction in ways that draw them into the content.

EXPERIENCE
Teacher (Lakewood High School 1997 – 2008, 2012-2015)
Teach pre-Calculus, Algebra 1, and Honors/pre-IB Algebra 2.
Taught Mathematics and Computer Science courses including pre-Algebra, Algebra 2, Integrated Math Project,
Web Design, Introductory & Intermediate Computer Programming, and AP Computer Science.
Adapt Mathematics curriculum to meet the unique needs of students by utilizing creative exploration techniques,
structured practice tasks, individual and group activities, whole class participatory instruction, and formative
assessment techniques including clicker technology.
Assess student understanding through a variety of formal and informal methods including verbal response and
communication from the student, written descriptions of problem solving techniques, student evaluation of other
students’ work, quick checks with individual white boards and clickers, work shown on traditional problem sets,
formal assessments, and group presentations.
Lead and Contribute to the process of aligning content and instruction with district (and common core) standards
and best practices. I took a leading role in organizing Algebra I standards with curriculum resources, technology
integrations, and other materials. I then brought my colleagues together to exchange ideas and resources in a
series of scheduled meetings where we built an ongoing culture of sharing and continuous improvement.
Designed curriculum for Computer Science courses. Increased student buy-in and community involvement by
having students design web sites for non-profit groups and small businesses. Collaborated with other instructors
in district planning sessions to share and improve instructional techniques, standardize content and offerings, and
improve the quality of instruction district wide.
Utilize technology in the classroom in ways that invite students to participate in the instructional process. Design
smart board presentations that involve student brainstorming, interaction with the presentation through show and
reveal, dynamic ways to direct student focus, and built in checks for understanding. Give students opportunities to
utilize technology including graphing calculators, iPads, computer programming tools, and presentation software
to solve unique and authentic problems and communicate their understanding.
Communicate professionally and efficiently with parents and students through classroom website, up-to-date
online grade book, email, telephone conversations, and parent/teacher and student/teacher conferences.
Chaired Computer Science Department, and was Chair of the Department Chair group for one year.
Provided technology leadership for Lakewood High School. Assisted in the adoption of new student information
systems. Led training sessions for utilizing smart board technology and web technologies in the classroom.
Software and Sales Engineer (InfoTrust Group 2008 - 2012)
Delivered onsite and remote presentations and demonstrations of Content Management Software to prospective
customers from around the globe. Worked to understand customer needs. Adapted presentations based on the
understanding and technical expertise of the audience, expressed needs, and specific questions and discussion.
Drafted proposals for custom software solutions to prospective customers. Responded to requests for quote and
requests for proposal. Worked to understand and clarify customer requirements, propose custom software
solutions, calculate cost and labor, and effectively communicate the value and benefits of the proposed solutions.
Developed and implemented added functionality and bug fixes for the software and installed solutions on-site. As
the Tier 1 Customer Support Lead for Continental Airlines, Federal Express, and US Airways, I held weekly
meetings with customer stakeholders to discuss issues and communicate progress.
Led large data and software migration projects for FedEx and Continental Airlines. Traveled to customer sites to
define and clarify requirements. Created project plans, assigned and scheduled work tasks, and supervised the
work team. Led team meetings to assess progress. Collaborated with teams working on parallel projects to
ensure project success. Analyzed customer feedback and provided resolutions to issues encountered.
