4. Key Features
‣ Randomly generated dungeons - quicksand, acid, bomb, marble ...and many more!
‣ Endless prefix-and-suffix combinations - hundreds of pieces of unique equipment
to loot! Dozens of monsters ganging up on you!
‣ Ancient mighty Gods - sacrifice to become a devotee of your mighty God to receive
his blessing! (and later betray him to see his fury!)
‣ Arbitrary events - Find out the dark secrets from a list of accidental encounters
across the dungeon!
5. Dungeon layout
Dungeons are made of a 7x8 grid. Players advance through the dungeon by turning blocks and
fighting monsters at their own pace. The dungeon is filled with random traps and shrines that
might help them along the way.
6. Equipment system
Like the Diablo series, equipment system in Runestone Keeper is based on an randomly generated
affix system, providing much potential for players to mix and combine during their dungeon adventures
and yet none of them would be an identical experience.
7. Monster skills
Monsters come with skill suffix that distinguish their abilities from each other. Since the
dungeon layout and monster distribution is randomized to a certain degree, a
combination of these skills could really push the players to their limit.
8. Attributes
Heroes get points to add to their primary four attributes when they level up. These
builds creates diverse play techniques for players to explore and experiment.
9. Perk tree
In Runestone Keeper the perk system takes the form of God worshiping. As players advance through
the dungeon they discover statues of Gods and can choose to believe in them to receive their
blessings. The blessing progresses further when players use runestones to enhance their belief perking
by getting corresponding level of tattoo. Abandonment of belief, called a betrayal, of course, is allowed
to switch perks but severely punished, granting players more options.
10. Events and missions
Occasionally players will trigger events that, based on their decisions, may or may not result in
a favorable consequence. The events themselves take the tone of a medieval story-telling
experience, and exist in large quantity so players are less likely to run into the same story over
as they die (which they will frequently) and progress through the dungeons.
11. Skills and items
Runestone Keeper comes with different heroes initially equipped with different passive and first skills.
As they level up and unlocked new skill slot, they will be able to acquire new skills from skill masters
scattered over the map. Consumable items, called ancient legacies in the game, are dropped by
monsters or found in the dungeon mist – thus encouraging players to explore as well as fight - and
they shall be used wisely to tackle problems of immediate concern.
12. Monetary system
The primary money in the game is gold, collected
by fighting monsters and selling gears. Money is
best spent before entering the dungeon to unlock
minor perks that help players to go an extra mile
next round. Another important part of the
financial system is runestone, which is usually
dropped by elite monsters or bosses, and they
are spent for major enhancement such as
shrines, skills and tattoos.
