Bell Helicopter, Fort Worth, TX 2005-2015
Bell Helicopter is an industry-leading producer of commercial and military, manned and
unmanned vertical lift aircraft and tilt rotor aircraft.
Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Experienced in process mapping and evaluating opportunities to increase first pass yield by
using the DMAIC tools.
Selected to work in Manufacturing Research and Development department on a
rotational program to broaden knowledge of the R&D processes. Provided hands on
experiences, by providing technical inputs in phases of production lifecycle.
Worked in MR&D to develop a new process for a composite air inlet for the V-22. This
new inlet improved the engine time on the aircraft by providing cleaner air for the
engine. The results of this testing led to a contract award from the government to
implement this effort on the aircraft.
Collaborated with production to implement manufacturing improvements and tooling solutions
for the V-22 build of the composite yoke and wing skins. This increased throughput and
reduced quality defects to help meet on-time delivery.
Coordinated activities to evaluate and resolve engineering related production problems in
assigned area of aircraft manufacturing facility for the V-22, 525, 901Tilt-Rotor Military &
Commercial Helicopter. Reviewed production schedules, engineering specifications, orders,
and related information to maintain current knowledge of manufacturing methods,
procedures, and activities assigned area. Investigated the reports of defective, damaged, or
malfunctioned parts, assemblies, equipment, or systems to determine nature and scope of
problem, Examined, measured, inspected, and test defective parts for conformance to
engineer design drawings or blueprint specifications, using precision measuring and testing
instruments, devices, and equipment Evaluated findings to formulate corrective action plan
and coordinated implementation of plan Performed BOM verification through
Visiprise/CAMS, Enovia/CATIA, SAP software Verified planning parts and fastener call-outs.
Heavily involved with offsite supplier support for the V-22 program for the past eight years.
Worked with numerous suppliers across the United States and England to help with the
development, planning, manufacturing and/or tooling solutions to meet customerdemands for
a quality part with an on-time delivery.
Assisted with FAI (First Article Inspection) of new or transitioned parts.
Identified process bottlenecks and offered solutions on streamlining the process flow.
Updated planning for the shop floor.
Recognized by senior leaders for improving the process on the firewall panels and getting
the parts delivered on-time to prevent line shortage.
Developed a process to coordinate and review engineering design and changes, providing
producibility assessmentandidentify issues that would impactprocess capability, cost, quality
and schedules which are now implemented by engineering.
Provided process definitions, documentation and support for new product start-up program.
Managed and controlled Account Managers for redesign and implementation of Inlet Barrier
Filter project for the V-22 involving technicians, engineers, manufacturing planning, quality
assurance teams and working with suppliers.
Provided design modification on existing tooling to incorporate Six Sigma techniques and
ergonomics concepts, which help improve productivity and reduced job-related injuries.
Developed statements of work, basis of estimates and proposal schedules for US Government
contracts and internal manufacturing projects.
