1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Getting to know the technology
Reliability:- I believe the technology we used to film our final product were quite
reliable as they always worked well and were easy to use every time we came to
film our product, the cameras allowed us to create more advanced shots in our
final product as we easily learned how to use the cameras in a efficient, advanced
way.
Backing up – While creating our final product we didn’t back all our shots onto a
memory stick which we should of done and we ended up losing the shots for our
final product, therefore this meant that we had to go back out and re-film our final
product, however this helped as we were a lot better with the camera and we
thought of more shots to add in that weren't in the first set of shots. Also we
decided to play it safe and backup our shots onto a memory stick so that we didn’t
lose them again.
3. Filming.
Camera:•
I have never really used a video camera before in order to film a project, at first I thought it
would be difficult to use however I quickly got to know how to use the basic camera
functions and started filming for the preliminary to get used to the shots, by doing this it
allowed me to think of more advanced shots to use in our final film product.
Microphone:• Another part of the filming was the microphone to record the sound at the start of the film
opening, this was very easy to use and also playing the sounds back was also very easy to
find.
Transfer:•
In order to start editing the shots we had taken we needed to get the shots onto the
computer, to do this we had to go on to Adobe Premier Pro CS6, we did this by removing
the SD card from the camera and placing It into the computer and then drag them over to
adobe, this is also the same with the sound.
4. Editing
Editing:•
Adobe allowed us to play around with the clips we had filmed, he helped us with
shortening the length of each clip, using different transitions within the film, for
example a dissolve, add in sounds, fade the shots and sounds, basically Adobe allowed
us to do everything that we wanted in order to create a final product that was a high
mark.
Adobe:•
For our editing we used Adobe, this involved a non-linear editing system which
allowed me to have multiple video channels which allowed me to have layers and
assisted me with the continuity of the film.
After Effects:• As we only had a basic software of adobe to use we was abit restricted on what
effects we could use and our ideas were not able to be put into practice due to the
basic software, this meant I didn’t have overall control on the colour grading and other
effects needed.
5. Team
Team:•
Our team’s major challenge was deciding on a day to film our final product as we lived far
apart from eachother and we all had specific days we were busy on, in order to get the
filming done, in the end we were allowed to film in school time and once we overcame this
obstacle this allowed us to work on the film all day and produce the film with quality.
•
Our team worked well together during the filming, with all members being heavily involved
and giving suggestions on what different shots to use and how to film certain shots, due to
each member being involved this increased the morale of the whole group and allowed us
to get better results while filming.
•
During the process, Myself, Ben and Sophie kept in contact through facebook and text
messaging, this allowed us to schedule meeting on when we were filming and editing.
6. Internet
Blogger:•
Initially I had no idea how to use blogger, however due to the majority of the course being
revolved around blogger I thought it would be in my best interest to quickly learn how to use
blogger in order to produce quality work more efficiently. For example, I didn’t have a clue how to
embed a link onto the blog and with a quick 2 minute tutorial I was able to do this.
•
I have used blogger in order to keep a record of everything I have produced during the media
course, this allowed me to go back and edit things in order to improve the quality of the work. Also
due to blogger being linked to google this meant we could look at other peoples work in the group
and use some of their ideas in our work.
Google:•
Google was a major part in the research of our product, it helped with searching the mise en scene
of certain genre’s so that we could use them in our final product, along with YouTube, google was
the vital part of our research as it helped gather information I needed to create the film.
7. Organisation
List:• In order for me to keep on top of what I needed to add to my blog/ add to my film
opening I thought it would be better for me to organise what I needed to do and
write it on a list, I created the list and then crossed off the things I had completed.
