3. Explore Crow’s Nest Falls
Take a walk through the National
Park and enjoy all the Australian
Bush has to offer, fill your day
with swimming in the water holes,
spotting wildlife, bushwalking and
you can even chuck a snag on
the BBQ!

4. Set out on a southern road trip
Jump in your car for a road trip and
explore the southern end of our
region. Drop in to Steele Rudds
Shingle hut where Aurthur Hoey
Davis “Steele Rudd” the author
of On Our Selection lived during
his childhood years, or enjoy a
good meal and lose yourself in the
historical displays at Rudd’s Pub.
The real gem of this part of the
region is of course, the picturesque
landscape. From December to
January the sunflowers around
Clifton come to life and make for
spectacular photos. Check out our

5. Marvel at Muntapa Tunnel
The Muntapa Tunnel between
Oakey and Cooyar is one of our
region’s historical hidden treasures.
Built in 1910, the 250 metre long
tunnel was designed as a railway
tunnel for farmers but following the
closure of the railway line in 1964,
the area has been turned into a park.
There are picnic tables and BBQ’s
so be sure to pack a big lunch
before you head out. Check out

6. Call on Cobb + Co Museum
Did you know that it’s free entry
to the Cobb + Co Museum for
Toowoomba Region residents? Go
and explore the museum and learn
about the history of the Toowoomba
Region. The museum usually holds
special events/activities through
school holidays so check out
www.cobbandco.qm.qld.gov.au
to see what’s on!

7. Visit Cooby Dam
Like many of us, you’ve probably spent
more time recently indoors than out.
However, summer is here and it’s time to
get outside and into the fresh air. Lake
Cooby offers activities for all members of
the family. There’s plenty of good fishing
spots and boat access or perhaps you’re
into more adventurous water sports such
as kayaking or canoeing. Lake Cooby is
only a 35 kilometre drive from Toowoomba
and easily accessible from the New
England Highway. When travelling north
from Toowoomba just look for the turn-off
to your left at Highfields. More info on our

galleries in the Toowoomba Region?
Known for their contemporary
displays and instillations, art lovers
are in for a magnificent treat with
something on offer for everyone!

9. Love your local library
Libraries aren’t just about books,
you know. This is the place where
you come to learn something new
with our free online courses, pick
up a great book to read, grab a
dvd, play some games or relax with
some music. During school holidays
our libraries offer lots of extra
activities for all ages.

11. Wander around the
Waterbird Habitat
Tucked away between Middle Ridge
and Rangeville, the Waterbird Habitat
features multiple lake formations
including three permanent lakes and
a shallow lagoon.
Wander along the bank’s boardwalks
and see how many different types
of species you can find or just simply
sit back and enjoy some quiet time
by the water.
