HISTORY
INTERMODAL SERVICE
January 2014
Transmec, historical group specialised in the road transports,
begins a new adventure in joint venture with P&O (long-
dated partner): the intermodal transport using the public
train of IFB between Genk and Curtici.
September 26th, 2014
Our first own block trains start to operate between
Zeebrugge and Curtici: a block train totally controlled by
Transmec-P&O.
The positive response of our major clients convinced
Transmec-P&O to invest further in the intermodal service.
June 2016
Opening a private terminal in Oradea and a new company
block train starts to operate between Romania and Italy.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
INTERMODAL SERVICE
By moving one FTL from road to intermodal we could save more than 1.300 kg of CO2 for a
one way from Zeebrugge to Oradea and vice versa – approx 100.000 kg of CO2 per train for
a round trip. Considering 3 round trip trains per week, we could reduce on a yearly basis,
more than 23.000.000 kg of CO2, absorbed by 2.400 hectares of forests.
A truck produces an average of 0,88 kg of CO2/km
An electrical train produces an average of 0,05 kg of
CO2/km
Zeebrugge - Oradea 1.750 km, 3 trains/week,
240 load/week
Piacenza - Oradea 1.250 km, 2 train/week, 144
load/week
