Goals: this says most of it for me - the BMJ’s vision is to be the world’s most influential and widely read medical journal. Our mission is to lead the debate on health and to engage, inform, and stimulate doctors, researchers, and other health professionals in ways that will improve outcomes for patients. We aim to help doctors to make better decisions. I joined the BMJ as its first editorial registrar in 1989. I've edited most sections of the journal, including student BMJ (as senior editor), and am now senior research editor and a deputy editor at the BMJ. Since 2011 I've also been editor in chief of BMJ Open. For both BMJ and BMJ Open I'm actively engaged in developing access to raw
