4. The fact is that adaptation measures can
contribute to mitigation goals and
sustainable development.
■ Example: Climate Smart livestock production and grassland restoration in Uruguay
■ More productivity and income for vulnerable farmers.
■ Reduction in emission intensity due to increased eficiency , productivity and
changed diet. (25-30% - 10 years, ¿50%? - 20 years)
■ Carbon capture in soils (~ 0,7 ton CO2/ ha/year).
■ Increased application of knowledge based innovation and not inputs.
■ Positive impact on biodiversity in soil and grasslands.
