• NIBR is an independent social science
research centre whose mission is to
develop and publish research-based
insights for the benefit of decision-
makers in public and private institutions
as well as for the general public.
• The institute carries out research both
nationally and internationally.

• NIBRs vision is to further develop urban and regional
research as an inter- and multidisciplinary field of
study with a global perspective.
• Annual turnover approx. 65 mill NOK
• Financed through commissions and basic grants from
the Norwegian Research Council
• NIBRs major clients are the Research Council of
Norway, Ministry of Foreign Affairs/ Norwegian
Agency for International Development Co-operation
(Norad), Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Local
Government and Regional Development, Ministry of
Health and Care Services, Ministry of Children and
Family Affairs and the local government sector.

migration dynamics, cohort and life-span perspectives and
studies

innovation systems and dynamics
