SCHEART is the South Carolina Healthcare Emergency Amateur Radio Team that serves as the ESF-2 lead agency for the state's VoIP communications contract. It has 25 linkable repeaters for statewide coverage, 400 portable radios for deployment, communication trailers, and trained staff to provide emergency communications and support healthcare and ARES nets. The team maintains a database of over 600 licensed volunteers and provides training opportunities through partnerships like with the University of South Carolina Center for Public Health Preparedness.

6. *80 - NC CARES *81 – NC HEARS The Healthcare Practice Net meets every Thursday at alternating times from 9 AM to 9 PM weekly. The South Carolina ARES Statewide Net meets weekly on Sunday at 8 PM local time.

The SCHEART initiative is supported by funding, and resources, obtained through collaborations, and partnerships with a number of agencies and organizations. However, this list is not all inclusive, there are many other agencies and individuals that have made significant contributions to the SCHEART Project. Please visit our website for a more extensive list of contributors. The agencies we have on this slide are the ones that are active in the day-to-day process, the decision makers.
SCHEART Partner Agencies/ESF-2 Lead Agency offers primary and redundant communication resources. Also, be advise that VoIP is already under state contract, it is primarily uses on the statewide Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network to ensure quality service, it can be accessed with an internet modem, DSL and satellite. The service provider is Spirit telecom under contract with DHEC, DMH, DDSN, SCETV and USC so you have to go through DSIT for this procurement.
