2. 1. Muhammad bin Qasim
(695-715) Muhammad bin Qasim was orphaned as a child and thus the
responsibility of his upbringing fell upon his mother. She supervised his
religious instruction herself, and hired different teachers for his worldly
education. It was the uncle, Hajjaj bin Yousaf, who taught him the art of
governing and warfare.
Muhammad bin Qasim was an Umayyad general who conquered the
Sindh and Punjab regions along the Indus River (now a part of Pakistan)
at the age of seventeen. He was born in the city of Taif (in modern day
Saudi Arabia).
3. 2. Abdul Qadeer Khan
Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan is hailed
by the masses as a national hero
and father of Pakistan’s nuclear
bomb. He was born on April 27,
1936 at Bhopal in central India.
Dr Khan was awarded Nishan-i-
Imtiaz in 1996 and again in
1998. Thus he is the only
Pakistani to have received twice
the highest civil award. He is
also a recipient of Hilal-i-Imtiaz
During 1990s.
4. 3. Muhammad Ali Jinnah
(December 25, 1876 –
September 11, 1948) he is the
founder of Pakistan. He served
as leader of The Muslim League
and Pakistan’s first Governor-
General. He is officially known
in Pakistan as Quaid-e-Azam
means “Great Leader” and Baba-
e-Qaum means “Father of the
Nation”. His birthday is a
national holiday in Pakistan.
5. 4. Abdul Sattar Edhi
Edhi was born in 1928 at Bantwa, Gujrat in pre-
partition India.
Abdul Sattar Edhi is an institution and a living
legend. He is a world-renowned social worker who
devoted his entire life to the service of mankind. His
ambulances are here and there, and his clinics and
homes are everywhere to help millions of people.
6. 5. Imran Khan
Imran Khan the former captain of Pakistan Cricket team and the leader of the
Tehrik-e-Insaaf was born on November 25, 1952 at Lahore.
Being an all-rounder Imran Khan achieved reputation as one of the fastest
bowlers of his times and became the captain of Pakistan cricket team in 1981
His glorious victory was, indeed, to win World Cup victory at Melbourne in 1992
Imran Khan was one of the few cricketers who captivated their fans by their
charismatic and indomitable personality till the very end of his career. He
retired from Cricket at the peak of his career.
7. 6. IBN-E-SINA
(980 – 1037) Ibn Sina was the most
famous of the philosopher-scientists
of Islam.
Ibn Sina, or Avicenna, was born in
Bukhara then a leading city in Persia.
Ibn Sina collected in over 100 books
the entire scientific knowledege of his
time and is called the "Prince of
Science".
He spent the last years of his life in
Hamadan, where he composed the
'Canon of Medicine', which is among
the most famous books in the history
of medicine.
8. 7. Arfa Karim
Arfa Abdul Karim Randhawa was a
Pakistani student and computer
prodigy who in 2004 at the age of
nine years became the youngest
Microsoft Certified Professional.
She kept the title until 2008.
She also received the President's
Award for Pride of Performance. A
Science park in Lahore, the Arfa
Software Technology Park, was
named after her. She was invited by
Bill Gates to visit the Microsoft
Headquarters in the USA.
9. 8. Sir Syed Ahmed Khan
Sir Syed Ahmed Khan (1817–1898) was a
teacher and politician. He was also a social
reformer. He founded the school that
would later become Aligarh Muslim
University. In 1857 there was a rebellion in
India. This is known as the First Indian War
of Independence. He was one of those
early pioneers who recognized the critical
role of education for the empowerment of
the poor and backward Muslim community.
He wrote many books in which few are:
• Asbab-e-Bhaghawath-e-Hind
• Tabyin-ul-Kalam
• Musalmano ki Qismat ka faisla
10. 9. Mahmud Ghaznavi
Mahmud Ghaznavi is known as one of the greatest conquerors the world has ever seen.
He was one of the very few leaders who were never defeated in a battlefield. Born in 979,
Mahmud became the Sultan of Ghazni in 998. He was a brave man and use to take part
in all the battles his forces fought. Though he was interested in extending his empire
toward Central Asia, the maneuverings of the Hindu rulers of Punjab forced him to
invade South Asia. He came to South Asia seventeen times and went back to Ghazni
every time with a great victory. He fought against the strong forces of Jaipal, Annadpal,
Tarnochalpal, Kramta and the joint forces of Hindu Rajas and Maharajas but all of them
were forced to flee away from the battlefield due to Mahmud’s war strategy as a general.
His judicial system was very good as everybody was equal before the law and justice was
the order of the day.
11. 10. Muhammad Iqbal
Allama Sir Muhammad Iqbal (November 9, 1877 – April 21,
1938) was a Muslim poet, philosopher and politician born
in Sialkot, Pakistan, whose poetry in Urdu, Arabic and
Persian is considered to be among the greatest of the
modern era, and whose vision of an independent state for
the Muslims of British India was to inspire the creation of
Pakistan. He is commonly referred to as Allama Iqbal
Allama meaning “Scholar”.
