2. Abstract
The environmental issues of electricity production are the biggest problem we are
facing nowadays. Fossil fuel power plants release air pollution and also require large
amounts of cooling water. So, it is necessary to use renewable energy sources for
electricity production. One of the renewable sources is wave energy of moving
water. There are too many applications for electricity production by ocean wave
energy which contain high velocity waves. But 71% surface area of the earth is
covered with slow moving water. So, the production of electricity from this slow-
moving water is the problem. And the solution to this problem given by company
named “Waterotor Energy Technologies”. They made design that can work better
than propeller without affecting marine life. So, my aim is to introduce this idea to
other people and also, I’m working on the adaptive design of “Waterotor”. My try
is to make optimum design with proper results.
3. Why?
Environmental Issues:
For Example,
Any Solution(?) : Yes, Renewable Energy Sources
Different Forms of Renewable Energy Sources:
• Geothermal Energy
• Hydro-Electric Energy
• Solar Energy
• Tidal Energy
• Wind Energy
• Wave Energy(?)
4. What is Wave Energy?
OCEAN WAVE ENERGY
Limitations:
• Difficult Working Conditions
• Marine Life Disturb
• Complex Systems
5. Slow Moving Water Energy
Wide Area of our land is covered with slow moving water, so if we can utilize that
energy then it will be helpful for electricity production.
How?
• WATEROTOR ENERGY TECHNOLOGY made design known as
“waterotor”.
• Which is basically slow moving turbine efficient to produce electricity at low
rate.
• Work in progress by company: Indonesia (fishing villages) (Since 2016) &
Philippines.
6. Waterotor
Advantages:
• No harm to Marine life
• High efficiency
• Cost Effective
• Easy Installation
• Minimum water speed required: 2 miles per hour / 0.9 metre per second.
[Narmda Canal initial velocity: 1.69 m/sec]
7. Applications
Small Hydro Rotors (ht: 2 ft to 5 ft) can
be used in ocean currents, rivers, and
canals.
Large Hydro Rotors (ht: 5ft to 20 ft) can
be used in major ocean currents and
streams.
Extract oil from ‘depleted’ wells –
Power to raise oil from 200-ft level to
surface
Unmanned platforms – Power for
lights, fog horns, repeaters (liability
issues / hazard to navigation)
Manned platforms – Separators, pumps,
cranes. onboard systems
