I was invited as a representative from Nepal Fyling Labs to give a short, five minute lightning talk on the technology we were using at the Digital Technologies for Resilience Workshop. The presentation focused on sharing the story of the lab about getting to the scale it wanted to reach mentioning some key areas where it wants to focus. The Digital Technologies for Resilience, organized by FHI 360 with funding and support from the Rockefeller Foundation and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on November 14-15, 2017.

- What do people think first when they hear the term Drone.. Misconception
- What we actually do ? Remove that misconception … NFL is a local innovation lab under WeRobotics Global Flying Labs network that focuses on localization of Robotics technologies in Nepal.
- So what is a drone , that we use ? These 3 components make this technology ready to use at a very low cost.
- At NFL, we are mostly making use of Aerial robotics solutions for aerial mapping and social good sectors. Mention some Applications.
- Nepal earthquake : A huge tragedy to the beautiful country Nepal Nepal Flying Labs was established after Nepal Earthquake and majority of our works is using drones for better spatial datasets.
- Relate use of drones with building resillience. Using it as a tool to generate geospatial datasets more quicker, efficient and cost effective.
- All of our project involves community engagement. We work with the local people and community.
- Mention about Scaling Plans
- More funding for pilot works, This is the result of lack of donors and clients who realize the possibilities of drones. So, we have to do a better job of networking and proving the effectiveness and efficiency of drones in those contexts. .Many companies want to use drones to be seen to be more competitive. But it is better that these companies stick to what they do best and let drones companies purchase and fly drones. This means everyone stick to what they know best. So we must use spread this message.
- Two Major agendas : Build Local capacity. Gain the trust and respect of the Govt. agencies and Possible clients
