2. Lazania is the most delectable
dishes.
Lasagna, however, unlike most Italian dishes is not a simple
preparation. Lasagna is a carefully planned assembly.
While the individual ingredients of lasagna are rather
straightforward, the assembly of those ingredients is very
complex; and, depending it what you chose to include
can be somewhat costly. In my childhood, lazania was not
something you saw at just any time. In my childhood,
lazania was a dish reserved for holidays. From some
acquaintances of Italian extraction, lasagna was not
known at any time of the year. In my family lasagna was
always the first main course for Thanksgiving, Christmas and
Easter. Lazania was a dense casserole of alternating layers
of the lasagna noodles, ricotta cheese and what we called
"gravy."
3. Lazania holiday
lazaniawas served only on holidays, it was
only a part of a many course holiday
dinner. Such dinners usually began
around 1pm and continued into the night.
First came the fruit salad lazania. This was
a mixture of canned Dole fruit salad with
the addition of select fresh fruits served in
high glass cups chilled with ice. I don't
know the origin of this course. Lazania was
certainly not Italian.
4. Lazania Rolls
The ability to create restaurant-style lazania,
piled high with layers upon layers of pasta,
cheese, and sauce is easier to replicate in
your own home that you might think. Instead
of stacking massive amounts of ingredients on
top of each other, try rolling up a single
lazania noodle with your favorite ingredients
to avoid having a month worth of leftovers.
Lasagna rolls have become very popular in
home cuisine, as Lazania don't come with the
bulk, the mess, or the price of their layered
counterpart.
5. Lazania recipes
the work needs to be divided into several
steps.
Step One: Boil the noodles according to
the instructions on the package. Once
complete, lazania, shock them with cold
water and lay on a paper towel to dry.
6. Lazania Step 2
Step Two
: Brown the ground beef and Italian
sausage. Drain. Add in spaghetti sauce.
Place ½ of the mixture in the bottom of
your lazania pan.
7. Lazania : eat this!
Step Five
: Pour last ½ of the sauce/meat mixture on
top of the rolls. Sprinkle with remaining
cheeses for extra flavor. Cover with tinfoil and
place in a preheated 350° oven for 30-45
minutes, or until the cheeses have melted. This
technique works just as well with vegetarian
varieties of lazania. Try adding alfredo sauce
or pesto instead of the meat sauce and fill the
rolls with fresh tomatoes and basil!
