Tokens & Contracts
LAND is an ERC-721 digital piece of real-estate in The
Sandbox's metaverse. Game designers use LAND to build
digital experiences, such as games or dioramas, and also
populate it with ASSETs. LANDS can be bundled in an ESTATE
token
SAND is the main ERC-20 utility token and the currency of The
Sandbox's ecosystem. It is also a governance token.
ASSETS are ERC-1155 tokens created by the players (UGC) with
the intention to add a level design elements into the game
maker
GAME is an ERC-721 token representing a game with its
content (Asset), configuration (num of lands and shape) and
logic

ERC-721 extraction is a feature
➔ Any ERC-1155 can then be extracted into a unique
ERC-721 (decrease supply of original ERC-155 by 1)
➔ Concept of collection: every extracted ERC-721 is
part of a collection (the original ERC-1155)
➔ The Sandbox contribution was to make the
ERC-1155 standard 100% compatible with ERC-721
➔ With our implementation, users can mint
1,000,000 of tokens and transform then into
ERC-721 on demand, preserving the link with the
original ERC-1155 as a collection

ERC-1155 token type cost only one storage
Encoding of data in the token ID itself :
➔ Creator address in the first 160 bits
➔ Whether it is an NFT : 1 bit
➔ Index in a collection: 32 bits
➔ Packing Index and packID : the rest
Whenever an ASSET is minted, we use IPFS to assign a
unique hash derived from the content itself.
Because such hash is stored on chain, owners of the token
will always be able to prove that the graphical
representation of the Asset is indeed the one associated
with the token they own.

These contracts implement both ERC-721 and ERC-1155
in order to mint and represent in-game assets

need to have its top left corner coordinates be a multiple of
its size
● This allowed us to sell 24x24 = 576 tokens at a cheap gas
cost: pay for one quad
(the bottleneck becomes the number of events)
