Even a tiny home can present enormous challenges - such as tting
a full-sized bathroom, separate bedroom, home of ce space, laun-
dry and sleeping arrangements for 3 guests into a 20’ x 20’ footprint.
Balancing privacy and social interaction was also a major consider-
ation. A partial sleeping loft provided private guest accommodations
as well as extra storage while still allowing for higher ceilings through-
out most of the home. An open living/dining/kitchen area utilized
multi-functional furniture such as a coffee table that doubles as a
bench. The playful colors and plentiful windows and skylights are a
reminder that even the tiniest home should be beautiful and cheerful.

LEGAL OFFICE SUITE
Schaumann, Barrowes & Barrowes, a rm specializing in Intellectual
Property Law, needed a space that would support their professional
image while also promoting the well-being of their employees. Qual-
ity and competence were portrayed by the timeless wood and mar-
ble accents, earthy tones, and original artwork, while the glass walls,
contemporary furniture and integrated monitors reasserted the tech-
nological specialty of the rm. Alleviating the stress typical of a law
rm environment was addressed with a walking trail and outdoor pic-
nic pavilion, windows for all attorneys’ of ces and a large, sunny com-
mons room complete with a kitchen and multiple seating options.

3-BR AND STUDIO CONDOS
The 3-bedroom vacation condo began as a blank slate that was ex-
pected to house a variety of possible guests including couples, young
children and short-term renters. A large kitchen with dining room, a
private workspace, an owner’s storage closet and a large entry were
requested. The attached studio condo would have a semi-private
bedroom and study, a walk-in closet and stackable laundry machines.
These needs were met with beautiful natural wood, textiles and stone,
large open spaces, abundant light and ef cient space-planning.

AND ACTUAL SPECIFICATION
Working quickly and accurately is essential in almost any profession. In
interior design, this involves not only creativity and problem-solving, but
also the ability to communicate ideas visually. Sketching, therefore, is
an essential skill for an interior designer. Translating design concepts into
color renderings allows the designer to more fully convey his or her vision
to a client from the earliest design stages.

17. The Devereaux Mansion was an imposing 8,000+ sq-ft historic Victorian residence,
repurposed as a reception center. Underutilized and outdated, the mansion
was serving neither its intended, nor its original, purpose. An updated oor plan
including guest suites, a gym with sauna, and entertaining spaces, transformed
this home into a modern and highly functional place to house a visiting LDS Gen-
eral Authority, his family and guests. Original architectural and artistic elements
were retained to preserve the beauty, history and character of the mansion.

UPSCALE RETAIL PROJECT
ZINC men’s clothing was a new business targeting a fashionable and
discerning clientele. The store would need to house a retail oor, dress-
ing rooms, of ces, warehousing space and a conference room. ZINC
would accommodate all these functions while projecting a sophisticat-
ed image. Abundant brushed bronze, natural nish woods and marble
surfaces adorned the open and spacious retail oor, highlighting the
individual pieces of high-quality merchandise being offered.
