2. About the College
• Government First Grade College, Periyapatna was established in the year 1991 with a motto
of providing higher education for the rural students largely coming from the agricultural
background.
• The college in 1991 was started with only 41 students now it has the student strength of
almost 500.
• Because of the efforts of Late Sri. Kalamarigowda, former MLA, Sri. H.S. Basavaraju,
former MLA, current sitting MLA of Periyapatna constituency Sri. K. Venkatesh, and
teaching and non-teaching staff, the college has seen tremendous growth in recent years.
• The college has spacious 10 acres of land which is an indication for tremendous growth and
also environmental friendly ambience
• The College attracts students from not only Periyapatna but also from other nearby taluk
(K.R. Nagar, Kodugu district)
• The ample space available in the college premises gives enough opportunity to expand
considerably and develop it has unique building with right ambience for students overall
growth

• College established in the year 1991 in a rented building in
Periyapatna
• In the year 2002-03 College Shifted To the present location (with
5 classroom along with Principal and Office Room )
• In the year 2008-09 additional 04 rooms and one library hall in
the first floor constructed by Department of Collegiate Education
(DCE)
• In the year 2013-14 additional 04 rooms were constructed by
DCE in the first floor where Staff Room and Computer Lab is

Syllabus by constituting Board of Studies (BoS)

concerned teaching staff of the subject is deputed to attend the workshops
conducted by the Associations of the respective Departments to have fair knowledge
about the changes
● Board of Studies of Concerned Subject, provides the model question papers
whenever the syllabus is redesigned/reframed.
● Many Academic staff colleges conduct Refresher course (RC) on all the subjects to
enrich the knowledge of teaching staff and equip them to teach the curriculum by
adopting to the contemporary challenges of teaching
● The staff is advised to supplement their teaching by guiding the students to view
EDUSAT programmes telecasted by the DCE.

44. Teaching and Learning Process
• The College maintains its own calendar of events consisting
of academic and other extracurricular activities.
• The Principal approves the College calendar and it will be
circulated among the staff and the students.
• The Time Table committee designs the Time Table on the
basis of the Department workload.

year and submits it to HODs.
– Each Faculty adheres to the teaching plan.
– Maintenance of work--diary by each faculty member.
– Periodical scrutiny of work diary by the HODs and the Principal.
– Maintenance of student attendance registers by concerned teacher.
– Class tests are conducted by the concerned teachers and student assessment
examinations are conducted centrally by the Examination committee.
– The internal marks are finalized by the concerned teachers with the supervision of
HODs and later sent to the University in appropriate format.
– Old question papers are solved at the end of each chapter or on the completion of
syllabus.

Teaching and Learning
The IQAC meetings are held regularly and advised to the faculty members to
develop teaching methods. IQAC also performing following duties:
• IQAC helps the administration in preparing the academic calendar
• The IQAC takes part in administration is designing the feedback formats
• The students feedback on teachers is processed by IQAC
• The IQAC gives inputs to the career guidance and placement cell
• The IQAC has been coming up with formats for collecting feedback on
curriculum from both the students and the teachers
• Preparation of the annual-plan targeted at the quality improvement of
various functions of the college. The academic calendar of the college is
based on this plan.
