3. – Plant Maintenance is one of the modules in SAP, which is emphasized on maintenance of company
assets. This assets very identic with factory machines, even though this asset can be a vehicle or
equipment in office, such as AC, Laptop, Computer, etc and we can maintaining our building too.
– In this module, can assist in planning, implementing and evaluating maintenance activities against the
object. These activities, such as :
1. Inspection
Check actual condition of the object
2. Preventive
Keep ideal condition of the object
3. Repair
Restore ideal condition of the object
WHAT IS PLANT MAINTENANCE
4. – With Plant Maintenance we can maintaining our object, from building until vehicles.
Know when and what to do (task list) must be doing for preventive maintenance. Not only that,
we can knowing what part must be changed so we can prepared the spare part.
Measuring the object.
Giving information about warranty the object.
Tracking notification from the other department whose report the problem for equipment.
Analyze our object, how many times the object got breakdown and the root cause of this
breakdown.
Analyze our group maintenance, how much times they spend for repaired the breakdown.
Easily tracking how many object we have and the location of the object.
Keep tracking and analyzing procurement for service/spare parts/equipment.
WHY USING PLANT MAINTENANCE
5. Giving information for cost maintenance each work order.
For spare part, if needed we can add function serial number, and we can know history and status
per serial number.
- We can integrate with the other modules, such as :
Inventory Management
For integration with inventory management, we can create material and maintained stock for spare part. With
this, we can know how many spare part maintenance have, not only how many but we can add information like
the spare part is new, repaired or damaged.
Beside that, we can planning for stock spare part, example using reorder point, when stock below the reorder
point, automatically system will create purchase requisition. With this function, we can ensure we have stock
when needed.
WHY USING PLANT MAINTENANCE
6. Procurement
For integration with purchasing, when create work order and need some “special” component (because for
spare part is different like component at production line, for maintenance usually have a special specification),
maintenance can put the specification at the work order and from this order will automatically create purchase
requisition. Maintenance can track the progress purchase requisition for each work order.
Production Planning
For integration with production planning, when equipment for production line have breakdown or have schedule
for doing preventive, system will give information to production this equipment cannot used when that time. So
production can planning for this situation, such as before preventive, production must overtime.
Beside that, when equipment suddenly breakdown, production can create notification and maintenance can
repaired this. From status of notification, production and maintenance can tracking the progress of work order
and all breakdown for each equipment is recorded for further analysis.
WHY USING PLANT MAINTENANCE
7. Finance & Controlling
For integration with finance & controlling, we can calculate actual cost from each work order. Where the cost
can from spare part used, technician time for repaired, purchase service or parts from vendor.
Asset Management
For integration with asset management, we can connect equipment with asset. Beside that, when we doing
maintenance, we can settle cost to asset.
Human Recources
For integration with human resources, we can create personnel number for technician, when doing confirmation
actual work, we put personnel number and we can get actual work per technician.
