This document discusses gender inequality and development approaches over time. It covers topics such as: 1) The human development approach focuses on improving quality of life through health, education, and standard of living. Economic growth alone does not guarantee development. 2) Early approaches included trickle-down theory and growth with social justice. Recent approaches include human development, gender and development, and women's empowerment. 3) Gender inequalities exist due to discrimination and social norms. Reducing inequalities requires conventions, economic and legal reforms, and women's empowerment and agency.
