2. • DEFINITION OF EMOTION:-
Emotion refers to particular feelings that
characterize a state of mind such as joy, anger,
love, hate, horror etc.
The word EMOTION includes a wide range of
observable behaviors ,expressed feelings , and
changes in the body state.
3. NATURE OF EMOTIONS:-
1. Emotion is affective in nature:
Emotion may be pleasant or unpleasant but it affects the
individual. Positive emotions like smile or joy, pleasure, delight,
affection, happiness .Negative emotions like sorrow, sadness,
anger, disgust, shock, depression, stress, etc.
2. Emotions vary in intensity:
Emotion vary from person to person. Children can go to the
extreme end of emotionality than adults. Some people
react less on emotions and their emotional intensity is very
low.

4. 3. Emotions involves psychological changes:
When a person emotionally hurt or angry he cannot learn,
grasp, and remember things properly. They feel restless
and depressed in such situations. So, emotions play an
important role in psychological functions.
4. Emotion is linked with energy:
Every emotion has its own level of energy i.e. it
either increases or decreases. In a joyful or
pleasant mood lot of energy is generated whereas
in a sad or depressed mood the energy level
decreases.
5. 5.Emotion helps to modify social interaction:
In verbal or non-verbal communication our
behavior is observed by different people in the
society . Their reactions act as a signal to us so that
we can modify our social interaction with people.
7. Emotions to be expressed:
Sadness and happiness are emotions which
can be expressed by a person .A child sadness
is seen from his low mood whereas his
happiness is seen from his excited and joyful
mood.
Ex:- danger, fear, sadness, happiness, etc
8. Emotions to be controlled
Anger is a perfect example of an emotion that gets
worse and expressed. So it should be controlled in
order to avoid harm to anyone. By controlling anger a
person can take correct decisions in life .
11. ROLES OF EMOTIONS
• The feeling caused when sensing energy on
motion is called emotion
12. Every individual at any given time in a particular
emotional level is called emotional tone .This
reveals the amount of available strength or
capacity for doing work
.
APATHY:
When a person is in the emotional level and
behaves in a certain way it is called apathy. In
apathy a person becomes careless of others ,talks
very little or nothing, has strong doubt of own
reality cries for pity.

When a person is in emotional level called
anger, he is destructive and unreasonable. Has
brutal sense of humor and cannot be trusted.
14. • ENTHUSIASM:
When a person is in the emotional state of
enthusiasm shows intense interest in life , feels high
self worth and respects others. a enthusiastic person
communicates well and accepts changes in beliefs
and ideas in the society.
16. Emotions influences other psychological
processes . There is a direct link between
the way we think and the way we feel .
EMOTIONS AND THOUGHTS
INFLUENCE EACH OTHER :
In a happy mood happy thoughts come
into our mind and when we are sad
negative memories and images comes
into our mind .
17. DECISION MAKING:
Emotion influences the decision making processes
in a human being. In a strong and positive
emotional state aperson generally makes correct
decisions. In a negative state of mind aperson takes
incorrect decision
18. ATTITUDE:
Attitude of a person is temporary. sometimes after
being cheated by someone very badly we decide
not to trust anyone. Hence we lose our trust. This
affects our attitude.
CREATIVITY:
When is in a happy mood the creativity level in him
increases because in such a mood a wide range of
ideas or associations come into the mind.
