- Balfour Beatty goes paperless on $800 million Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW) renovation project using Egnyte. 6 to 7 year project to renovate two of the terminals, 80 countries, 50,000 employees from financing, through planning and design, to construction, maintenance and support. over the life of the project, the cost of drawings for Balfour Beatty alone could easily have exceeded $500,000 per terminal. In the airport's case, the actual jobsite was 1.5 miles away, and with the time to get in and out of secure areas at the airport, traveling back and forth from the jobsite to the office trailer would take at least 20 minutes each way. CAD computer aided design Balfour deployed Egnyte and gave out 55 iPads to their employees and those iPads were interacting with 190 other iPads owned by subcontractors and owners via Egnyte. Since multiple parties were involved, administrators were able to use Egnyte to centrally enforce permissions and access rights to that the right users had access to the right content. As a result, the superintendents were able to realize savings of at least an hour per day which resulted in huge savings over the course of the project. Moreover, because of Egnyte and iPads they were able to avoid printing of 9000 LBs of paper. In total, they were able to save $5.1 million dollars across all 4 terminals.
