The Superintendent's Bulletin provides timely information to Wellesley Public School staff. This issue congratulates the Class of 2010, expresses appreciation for staff handling a busy end of year, and lists upcoming events and job openings. It encourages using a new inter-district professional development website and announces the birth of a staff member's child.

Superintendent of Schools June 4, 2010
The Superintendent’s Bulletin is posted weekly on Fridays on our website. It provides timely, relevant
information about meetings, professional development opportunities, curriculum and program development,
grant awards, and School Committee news. The bulletin is also the official vehicle for job postings. Please
read the bulletin regularly and use it to inform colleagues of meetings and other school news.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WHS CLASS OF 2010!!!!!
Dear Colleagues,
For even this time of year, it has been more stressful than usual for many of us as we work through a variety of taxing
issues on top of managing the numerous, but important, end of year recognitions and celebrations. Some of us are
navigating these waters for the first time and some of us are not but are faced with changes in venue, particularly with
respect to the high school.
I heard a hint of exhaustion in Gerilyn’s (Andrew Keough’s new administrative assistant) voice yesterday as she experiences
the high school end of year events for the very first time and a bit of worry in MaryAnn McDonald’s voice (our long‐time
veteran and “rock” of a secretary to John Brown) the afternoon before the Athletic Banquet that was to be held in a
different venue for the first time in 17 years. I am surprised and relieved at how well even Addie Doherty, our newest
member to the team, has stepped up so smoothly into her new role as my assistant. While the year is closing out some
new initiatives are still just starting out. There has been a smooth launching of the new three all day fifth grade field trip to
Hale Reservation. We also continue to be in the midst of two administrative searches that are time consuming and involve
a lot of staff. I am grateful and amazed by the calm in the voice’s of our principals although I know that is not at all how
they are feeling as they balance many equally valid demands for their attention for a myriad of important and urgent
competing concerns. I am also appreciative of how the Central Office team has dropped all else with barely a moment’s
notice and without question to provide necessary and helpful support to our building principals or building teams to field
and manage unplanned situations appropriate to their various areas of expertise as they arise. And even now I know our
custodians are adjusting to the whim of the weather so we can have dry chairs set up for graduation Friday evening.
2. As stressed as I know you are, I don’t think I can express enough how proud I am to witness how amazing everyone, novice
or veteran, has pulled together as a team and how dedicated each one has been to fulfilling his or her responsibilities
across grade levels, buildings, and the district in order to make this a positive close of year for all our students and
colleagues. It exhausts me to just think about everything that is going on and what you are all doing at the moment! While
exhausting, it is also a time of celebration as we prepare to say farewell to some of our colleagues who are retiring while
looking forward to the graduation of the Class of 2010 on the Hunnewell Fields. Great work, all of you.
