Are You Working Toward
a Higher Salary Lane?
All teachers who expect to receive a Master’s degree, M+30, or
M+60/Doctorate during the 12 month period July 1, 2010 - June
30, 2011, must send formal notification of intent to change
salary lanes to Mary Wolf c/o the Superintendent’s Office no
later than November 1, 2009. This early notification deadline
is required so that provisions for anticipated salary lane
changes may be made within the new fiscal year budget. nb
The list does not carry forward. Teachers must provide written
notice each year until they have received their new degree.

Potential
Price
Increase
The State legislature voted to increase the meals tax from 5.0% to 6.25% effective August 1, 2009 as part of
the FY10 budget. In addition, each city and town has the option to access an additional 0.75% for the meals
tax. On November 16, the Town of Wellesley will hold a Special Town Meeting to consider implementing this
local option meals tax. By law, meals tax is charged on all non-student meals. For ease of accounting, the
meals tax has always been and will continue to be folded into the cost of your meal.
Should Town Meeting vote this additional tax, it will be implemented effective January 1, 2010. We
believed we could absorb the initial tax increase this year without raising meal prices. However, that will not be
possible should the additional local option meals tax be adopted by Town Meeting.
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the potential for an increase in the price of your meal. No price
increase will occur prior to January, 2010. As soon as Town Meeting takes action on this item, I will let you
   know the result.
Thank you for your understanding. Should you have any questions, please contact me at CL6210 ext 4108.

Potential
Price
Increase The State legislature voted to increase the meals tax from 5.0% to 6.25% effective August 1, 2009 as part of the FY10 budget. In addition, each city and town has the option to access an additional 0.75% for the meals tax. On November 16, the Town of Wellesley will hold a Special Town Meeting to consider implementing this local option meals tax. By law, meals tax is charged on all non-student meals. For ease of accounting, the meals tax has always been and will continue to be folded into the cost of your meal. Should Town Meeting vote this additional tax, it will be implemented effective January 1, 2010. We believed we could absorb the initial tax increase this year without raising meal prices. However, that will not be possible should the additional local option meals tax be adopted by Town Meeting. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the potential for an increase in the price of your meal. No price increase will occur prior to January, 2010. As soon as Town Meeting takes action on this item, I will let you know the result. Thank you for your understanding. Should you have any questions, please contact me at CL6210 ext 4108.
