FIRST PITCH
The #17 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M hit the road for Lone Star Conference
action this weekend as they make the short trip down Highway 60 for a four-
game league series against Eastern New Mexico starting on Friday night at
Greyhound Field in Portales.
EASTERN NEW MEXICO
The Hounds are guided by sixth year head coach David Gomez who holds an
overall record of 121-151 during his time in Portales as he led ENMU to last year’s
Lone Star Conference Semifinals.
ENMU enters the weekend with an overall record of 13-15 with a 1-3 mark in Lone
Star Conference action following a four-game series in Odessa as the Hounds
dropped three-of-four games to UT Permian Basin.
ENMU is led offensively by Paul Tapia as the senior infielder is hitting .415 on the
season with 11 runs scored to go along with five doubles to drive in 16 RBI with
32 total bases for a slugging percentage of .492. On the mound, Enrique Perez
(4-1) leads the way with a 4.06 ERA as he has allowed 28 runs (18 earned) on 38
hits with 20 walks and 45 strikeouts in his 37.2 innings of work with an opposing
batting average of .254.

was represented by Colorado Mesa (1st), Angelo State (11th), West Texas A&M
(17th), Lubbock Christian (23rd) and Dixie State (RV).
WT HEAD COACH MATT VANDERBURG
Matt Vanderburg has built West Texas A&M Baseball into a regional and national

of the Buffs. He holds an overall record of 341-213 (.616) during his decade in
Canyon while registering a career record of 440-280 (.611) in his 13 seasons in
collegiate baseball.
