COMING UP
The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M conclude
their regular season schedule on Saturday
afternoon as they host the #15 Texans of
Tarleton State on Senior Day with tipoff set for
4 p.m. CT at the First United Bank Center in
Canyon.
- SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
#15 TARLETON STATE
The Texans are led by 29th year head coach
Lonn Reisman who has led Tarleton State to
back-to-back South Central Regional Cham-
pionships. Reisman entered 2016-17 with 613
career wins to make him the winningest active
NCAA head coach in the state of Texas at any
level. Reisman is the sixth active NCAA Division II
head coach with 600 career wins and the 15th
Division II coach all time to reach the milestone.
Tarleton State enters the week with an overall
record of 22-5 with a 13-4 mark in the LSC to
sit tied atop of the league standings with UT
Permian Basin. The Texans fell on the road to
the Falcons on Thursday night in Odessa, 86-74.
The Texans are led offensively by Ridell
Camidge who has gone 132-of-320 from the
floor this season including 73-of-199 from long
range and 80-of-88 from the free throw line to
average 15.4 points per contest followed by
Chantz Chambers (13.8) and Romond Jenkins
(12.8) in double-figures. Tarleton State has gone
741-of-1580 (46.9%) from the field this season
including 216-of-612 (35.3%) from behind the
arc and 487-of-707 (68.9%) from the free throw
line while averaging 40.0 (+6.9) rebounds and
80.9 (+15.3) points per contest.
The Texans lead the all-time series against the
Buffs, 25-23 dating back to the start of the rivalry
in 1994. TSU has taken the last two meetings
between the two teams including a 91-73 deci-
sion earlier this season in Stephenville.
- A LOOK BACK
TAMUC RECAP
The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M moved to
a perfect 14-0 inside of the First United Bank
Center on Thursday night as they topped the
Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce, 100-98 in front
of almost 1,000 fans in Lone Star Conference
action in Canyon.
The Buffs went 29-of-58 (50%) from the floor
including 11-of-31 (35.5%) from long range and
31-of-42 (73.8%) from the charity stripe with 37
rebounds (seven offensive, 30 defensive), 14
assists, 12 turnovers, four blocks and six steals.
Chavlovich led the Buffs with 29 points followed
by a new career high from Prince with 24 while
Quaid led the way with nine rebounds.
LAST MEETING WITH TSU (JAN. 19, 2017)
The then #12 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M shot
just 35% from the floor as they snapped a three
game win streak with a 91-73 loss to the #11
Texans of Tarleton State in front of over 2,300
fans at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville, Texas.
The Buffs went 21-of-60 (35%) from the field
including 9-of-28 (32.1%) from deep and 22-
of-35 (62.9%) from the free throw line with 29
rebounds (12 offensive, 17 defensive), nine
assists, 10 turnovers, two blocks and seven
steals. Jordan Evans and Drew Evans led the
way for the Buffs with 13 points each followed
by White with eight and Gove with seven while
Quaid grabbed four rebounds.
NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS (FEB. 22)
Tarleton State sits atop of the regional rankings
followed by Colorado School of Mines, UT
Permian Basin, WT, Texas A&M-Commerce, Fort
Lewis, Colorado State-Pueblo, Regis, Cameron
and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The top eight teams
in the South Central Region will take part in the
Regional Tournament taking place on March
11-14 at the top overall seed, the winners of the
three conference tournaments will receive an
automatic bid into the postseason with the last
five spots being filled by at-large selections.

NABC DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (FEB. 21)
The Buffs enter the week with an 22-7 overall record with a 10-6
mark in Lone Star Conference play. Fairmont State picked up 14
of the possible 16 first place votes for a total of 397 points followed
by Indiana, Pa. (370), NW Missouri State (367), Bellarmine (350), Cal
Baptist (339), Kutztown (327), West Liberty (303), Hawai’l Pacific (291)
and Kentucky Wesleyan (269) to round out the top ten.
The South Central Region was represented by Fort Lewis (14th),
Tarleton State (15th), Colorado School of Mines (18th), UT Permian
Basin (RV) and West Texas A&M (RV).
HOME SWEET HOME
West Texas A&M is a perfect 14-0 at home this season. During those
14 home contests, WT has shot 47.7% (406-of-852) including 33.9%

Tom Brown was hired on April 16, 2014, as the
17th head coach in WT men’s basketball history.
In just two short years Brown has turned around
the West Texas A&M University Basketball Program.
Brown led the team to its first 20+ win season since
2010-11. The Buffs were picked to finish 5th in the
LSC this past season and despite a pre-season,
season ending injury to sophomore starter Carl
White the team still managed to finish 2nd in the
LSC with an overall record of 21-10. The 2nd place
finish is the highest since the conference was split
North/South. The Buffs continued to battle minor
injuries throughout the year but every player that
was called on would step up. Under Brown’s di-
rection the team had some very strong individual
performances. WT sophomore guard David Chav-
lovich led the way. For his outstanding play David
was named an NABC All-American, the Lone Star
Conference Player of the Year and 1st Team All-
LSC selection. Sophomore Jordan Evans (playing
in his first season) received honorable mention
All-LSC acclaim. The Buffs again were dominate in
the classroom as the team GPA exceeded a 3.0
for the year.
2015-16 the Buffs set a new record in the class-
room. The team recorded the highest GPA for
Men’s Basketball in a season.
Coach Brown inherited a WT team that won
two games in the LSC and 10 games overall in
2013-14. Brown had to start from scratch in late
April, the team had three seniors and one walkon
redshirt freshman. Just three student-athletes saw
playing time from the previous year and the team
was picked to finish last in the Lone Star Confer-
ence Preseason Poll. However, under Brown West
Texas A&M University finished the season 5th in the
LSC and posted a 17-12 overall record. The Buffs
made the LSC Tournament as the fifth seed. There
were some individual accolades as well, all three
of the returning seniors improved on their scoring
average from the previous season. Tez Dumars
surpassed Maurice Cheeks in WT All-Time scoring
and finished his career ranked 4th All-Time in
scoring at WT. David Chavlovich was the squads
leading scorer, 2nd Team All-Conference Perform-
er and the Freshman of the Year in the LSC as he
averaged 16.5 points per contest to go along with
93 assists and 30 steals.
In 2014-15, the Buffs set a new record in the
classroom. The team recorded the highest GPA
for Men’s Basketball in a season.
Tom was the driving force as the Associate
Head Coach and head recruiter in the most
successful Division II men’s basketball program
in recent history at Winona State University. The
Warriors won the NCAA Division II National Cham-
pionship in 2006 and 2008 and finished as the
National Finalist in 2007. During that span, Winona
State posted an unprecedented 105-6 record.
WT Assistant Coach Quincy Henderson played for
Coach Brown from 2005-2008. Quincy’s record as
a collegiate player at WSU was 105-6.
Named Division II Bulletin’s ‘Program of the
Decade’ for 2000-2009, WSU set a NCAA Division II
record with 57 consecutive wins, a run that began
on Jan. 13, 2006, and didn’t end until the national
title game on Mar. 24, 2007. The 2007-08 Warrior
squad won a NCAA record 38 games.
An excellent recruiter and teacher, Brown
recruited and developed some of the best
players in the nation with three National Player
of the Year recipients, along with seven first team
All-America honorees. 11 players total have
earned All-America status including WT Sopho-
more David Chavlovich. Brown has coached five
NSIC Most Valuable Players, seven NSIC Defen-
sive Players of the Year and two Elite Eight Most
Valuable Players.
Brown is doing it again at WT as David Chav-
lovich has earned both Freshman of the Year and
Player of the Year in the best Division II Confer-
ence in the Nation, the Lone Star Conference.
Brown attended and played basketball
(1988-1992) and baseball (1991) at Winona State
University. He finished his Warrior career ranked
fifth in program history in scoring, second in assists
and first in steals. He earned his bachelor’s degree
in 1993 in physical education and completed his
master’s degree in education in 1998.
He and his wife Dr. Trisha Brown are the proud
parents of three children, TJ, Zach and Ella. Dr.
Brown is currently an Instructor and works in the
Sports & Exercise Science Department at West
Texas A&M.

double-figures to lead WT to an 86-72
season opening win over the Azusa
Pacific Cougars to open up the CCA
Division II Tipoff Classic at the Santia-
go Canyon College Athletics Com-
plex in Orange, California.
The Buffs went 28-of-64 (43.8%) from
the floor including 10-of-24 (41.7%)
from deep and 20-of-28 (71.4%) from
the charity stripe to go along with 37
rebounds (nine offensive, 28 defen-
sive), 13 assist, seven turnovers, two
blocks and nine steals. Evans led the
way for WT with 20 points followed by
Chavlovich (16), Walton (14), White
(13), and Quaid (12) in double-digits
while Quaid ended the game with 10
rebounds for a double-double.
Azusa Pacific went 23-of-57 (40.4%)
from the field including 9-of-26 (34.6%
from long range and 17-of-23 (73.9%)
from the free throw line to go along
with 40 rebounds (10 offensive, 30
defensive), 13 assists, 20 turnovers,
two blocks and four steals. Schreiber
led all players with 25 points on the
afternoon followed by Peterson with

guard Jordan Evans scored 20 points
for the second straight contest as the
Buffs shot 50 percent from the floor
in an 83-70 win over St. Cloud State
during the CCA Division II Tipoff Clas-
sic at the Santiago Canyon College
Athletics Complex in Orange, Califor-
nia.
The Buffs were led offensively by Ev-
ans with his second straight 20-point
performance followed by White with
17 and Chavlovich with 15. Walton,
Chavlovich and White grabbed six
rebounds each while Chavlovich
dished out five steals. WT went 29-of-
58 (50%) from the floor including 11-
of-25 (44%) from deep and 14-of-28
(50%) with 36 rebounds (nine offen-
sive, 27 defensive), 17 assists, 13 turn-
overs, two blocks and three steals.
The Huskies were led by Davis with
23 points followed by Scottie Stone
with 16 while Davis grabbed eight
rebounds on the night. SCSU went 22-
of-61 (36.1%) from the floor including
7-of-21 (33.3%) from long range and
19-of-26 (73.1%) from the free throw
line to go along with 42 rebounds (15
offensive, 27 defensive), 11 assists, 16
turnovers, five blocks and five steals.
ORANGE, CA - The Buffaloes of West
Texas A&M are off to their best start
to a season since 2012-13 thanks to
an 11-0 run in the heart of the sec-
ond half as WT outlasted #23 Arkan-
sas-Fort Smith, 94-86 in the finale of
the CCA Division II Tipoff Classic at
the Santiago Canyon College Athlet-
ics Complex in Orange, California.
The Buffs were led by Walton with 24
points followed by Chavlovich (19),
Evans (17) and Golightly Jr. (10) with
double-digit points while Chavlovich
led WT with six rebounds and three
assists. WT went 33-of-65 (50.8%) from
the free throw line to go along with 37
rebounds (13 offensive, 24 defensive),
13 assists, 13 turnovers, five blocks
and three steals.
UAFS was led by Thomas with 20
points and five rebounds followed
by Youngblood with 19 and Parker
with 14 points and a team leading
six rebounds. The Lions went 29-of-
60 (48.3%) from the floor including
line to go along with 31 rebounds
(eight offensive, 23 defensive), 13
assists, nine turnovers, one block and
eight steals.
