COMING UP
The Lady Buffs wrap-up their 2017 home schedule
on Tuesday night as they host the Mustangs of
Western New Mexico in Lone Star Conference action
with first serve set for 6 p.m. on Senior Night at the
WTAMU Fieldhouse “The Box” in Canyon.

WESTERN NEW MEXICO
The Mustangs are guided by 20th year head coach
Jim Callendar who holds over 700 career victories
while leading WNMU to three NCAA Postseason
appearances.
WNMU enters the weekend with an overall record
of 8-15 with a 8-7 mark in Lone Star Conference
play following wins over Midwestern State (3-1) and
Cameron (3-0) last weekend in Silver City during LSC
play.
The Mustangs are led by Kalie Lyle who has
registered 245 kills (3.36/set) on 678 swings with
122 attack errors to hit .181 on the season. Cristal
Carrizoza paces the WNMU offense with 488 assists
(6.02/set) while Ashley Mataele leads the way
defensively with 356 digs (4.40/set).
WNMU has registered 942 kills (11.5/set) on 2,913
attempts with 497 attack errors to hit .153 as a team
so far this season. They average 10.80 assists and
0.80 service aces per set while tallying 1,180 digs
(14.4/set) and 163.5 total blocks (2.0/set) on the
season.
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against
the Mustangs, 11-3 in a series dating back to the
1981 season. The Mustangs took the first meeting
between the two teams earlier this season in a
sweep in Silver City. Western New Mexico is 0-4 all-
time at the WTAMU Fieldhouse “The Box”.

Western New Mexico 3, West Texas A&M 0 (9/29/17)
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M hit just .076 as
a team with 26 attack errors as they fell in straight
sets to Western New Mexico n Lone Star Conference
action at Drag’s Court in Silver City, New Mexico.
The Lady Buffs hit just .076 as a team with 34 kills
on 105 swings with 26 attack errors to go along with
32 assists, two service aces, 37 digs and eight total
blocks in the loss.
Western New Mexico registered 38 kills on 101
attempts with 16 attack errors to hit .218 on the night
with 37 assists, two service aces, 39 digs and eight
total blocks.
Kamille Jones led the Lady Buffs with nine kills on
22 swings with seven attack errors to hit .091 on the
night followed by Michaela Montgomery with eight
kills, Selena Batiste led all players with 20 assists
while Chandler Vogel tallied 12 digs.
WEEKEND RECAP
- West Texas A&M 3, #21 Angelo State 1 (10/27/17)
WT hit .224 as a team and had three different
players with double-digit kills as the Lady Buffs raced
past the rival #21 Belles of Angelo State on Friday
night in Lone Star Conference action.
The Lady Buffs hit .224 as a team with 52 kills on
156 swings with 17 attack errors to go along with 47
assists, three service aces, 70 digs and 9.5 blocks in
the win.
Senior Kamille Jones led the Lady Buffs with 12 kills
followed by Crystal Thomas and Erin Clark with 11
each. Selena Batiste led all players with 36 assists
while Chandler Vogel tallied 19 digs followed by
Carissa Henning with 12 and Clark with 10 for a
double-double.
- West Texas A&M 3, #11 Tarleton State 1 (10/28/17)
West Texas A&M used big runs and double-figure
kills by three players including 17 from freshman Erin
Clark as the Lady Buffs snapped #11 Tarleton State’s
15-match win streak on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Buffs hit .296 as a team with 60 kills on
152 swings with 15 attack errors to go along with
54 assists, five service aces, 75 digs and nine total
blocks in the win.
Freshman Erin Clark led the Lady Buffs with 17 kills
on 40 swings with no attack errors to hit .425 on the
afternoon. Selena Batiste registered a double-double
with 35 assists and 12 digs while Chandler Vogel
continued to impress during her freshman campaign
with 17 digs in the win.

HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the
best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball,
in any division. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more
affectionately known as “The Box,” is home to
19 Lone Star Conference Championships, 13 Re-
gional Titles and three NCAA Division II National
Championships. “The Box” boats one of the best
home winning records in the NCAA on any level
of competition. The Lady Buffs are 466-74 at
The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible
winning percentage of 86.2%.
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach Jason Skoch, a four-time LSC
Coach of the Year, is now in his ninth season at
the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall
career record of 388-91 (.810, 12th year) including
a 252-71 (.780) mark in Canyon. Skoch has led the
Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA
Postseason with three South Central Regional
Titles and a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
The Lady Buffs have played in 97 sets during
28 matches so far during the 2017 season. True
freshman Chandler Vogel has started 27 of those
matches at libero while four other freshman have
made appearances in the starting lineup so far this
season for the Lady Buffs.
THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
Entering last week, LSC teams were 108-108
overall this season. The squads are currently 15-17
combined versus RMAC teams, and 12-6 against the
Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues
in the NCAA South Central Region.
AVCA DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (OCT. 30)
Concordia-St. Paul picked up 40 of the possible
48 first place votes in this week’s AVCA Division II
Top-25 Poll announced on Monday afternoon by the
association’s offices.
The Golden Bears sit atop of the poll with 1,191
points followed by S.W. Minnesota State (1,130), Cal
Baptist (7 first place, 1,100), Lewis (1,035), Nebraska-
Kearney (989), Palm Beach Atlantic (1 first place, 943),
Northern State (882), Western Washington (865),
Minnesota Duluth (831) and Arkansas Tech (711) to
round out the top ten. The South Central Region was
represented by Regis (12th), Tarleton State (14th),
Colorado School of Mines (17th), Angelo State (23rd),
Metro State (RV) and West Texas A&M (RV).

87CONSECUTIVE LSC VICTORIES - The Lady Buffs
own the NCAA Division II record for consecutive wins against
conference opponents, WT claimed 87 straight wins against the
Lone Star Conference between September 8, 2006 and September 13, 2011.
During that five-year span, the Lady Buffs claimed five Lone Star Conference
Championships and made three appearances in the NCAA Elite Eight with a
National Runner-Up finish in 2009.
26ALL-AMERICANS - The Lady Buffs have produced an im-
pressive number of 26 All-Americans in program history including
a pair of DII National Players of the Year: Cristina Pereira (1991)
and Sarah Butler-Carthel (1997,1999).
19LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS - To say that the Lady Buffs
have dominated the Lone Star Conference over the past three
decades would be an understatement. The Lady Buffs own a
278-48 overall record in the LSC, winning an staggering 86 percent of their
matches.
13REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - The Lady Buffs
have claimed 13 South Central Regional Titles on their way to the
Division II Elite Eight during their 25 all-time appearances in the
NCAA Postseason.
1,044VICTORIES SINCE 1980 - The Lady Buffs
have dominated Division II Volleyball dating back to the
1980 season. Since that time, the Lady Buffs are 1,044-
387-2 which is a winning percentage of over 72 percent.
25NCAA POSTSEASON APPEARANCES - The
Lady Buffs have one of the most storied programs in all of NCAA
Division II. Since 1988, WT has made an incredible 25 appearanc-
es in the NCAA Postseason including 10 straight. The Lady Buffs rank fifth

3NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - Winning a National
Championship in any level of competition is an impressive feat, the
Lady Buffs have claimed the highest prize in all of NCAA Division II
Volleyball three times in the program’s history in 1990, 1991 and 1997.

2017 LADY BUFF VOLLEYBALL GAME NOTES
	 	 Entering his ninth season at West Texas A&M in 2017, head coach
Jason Skoch looks to build upon the great success of his first eight
years as the Lady Buffs’ leader.
	 	 The 2014 campaign was another dominating run thru the Lone Star
Conference for the Lady Buffs as they went a perfect 16-0 in league
play to claim their 19th LSC Championship while registering a perfect
league record for the 16th time since the 1986 season. The Lady Buffs
participated in their 10th straight and 25th overall apearance in the NCAA Postseason. Skoch was
named the LSC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and his fourth overall award
since joining the league prior to the 2009 season.
	 2013 saw the Lady Buffs continue their dominance of the Lone Star Conference as the team
went a perfect 16-0 in league play to claim the program’s 18th LSC Title. WT hosted the South
Central Regional Tournament at “The Box” as they claimed the program’s 13th Regional Title, the Lady Buffs advanced to
the National Semifinal match before falling to BYU-Hawaii in a five-set thriller. Skoch was named the American Volleyball
Coaches Association (AVCA) South Central Region Coach of the Year as well as the LSC Coach of the Year for his efforts.
The 2012 season saw the Lady Buffs claim the LSC Tournament Title after a thrilling five set win over Angelo State in San
Angelo, Texas followed by WT taking the South Central Regional Championship to make the program’s 12th appearance in
the NCAA Elite Eight held in Pensacola, Florida. WT finished the season with an overall record of 33-5.
In 2011, the Lady Buffs went 34-3 including a 19-1 mark in the LSC for their sixth consecutive and 17th overall LSC
Championship. WT made its seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason, Skoch picked up his second consecutive LSC
Coach of the Year honor. The Lady Buffs put their mark in the NCAA Record Books in 2011, recording the longest conference
win streak in Division II history of 87 matches from Sept. 8, 2006 – Sept. 17, 2011.
In 2010, the Lady Buffs finished the season with a 27-9 overall record and a flawless 14-0 mark in the LSC. The team won
its fifth consecutive LSC Championship and 16th overall. WT reached the NCAA Postseason for a sixth consecutive season
before Emporia State in the opening round of the South Central Regional Tournament. Skoch was named the LSC Coach of
the Year.
In his first season with the team in 2009, Skoch (rhymes with ‘coach’) led the ultra-successful Lady Buffs to fourth-
consecutive and 15th all-time Lone Star Conference title, 20th NCAA Regional tournament appearance and 11th NCAA
Regional title, and 11th NCAA Elite Eight appearance. The team experienced their fourth National Championship match
appearance in Lady Buff history and finished second behind three-time national champions, Concordia-St. Paul, finishing the
season with a 39-4 record.
Skoch currently boasts an incredible career win-loss record of 370-81 (.820) in his 12 years as a head coach, including a
234-61 (.793) mark in his eight seasons at the helm of the Lady Buffs. Before coming to Canyon, Skoch served as head coach
at Truman State. While with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association-member, he guided the Bulldogs to four-
consecutive top-10 rankings in the AVCA final poll.
While at Truman State, he compiled a 137-22 record (.861), made five consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament,
developed 11 All-America student-athletes as well as two MIAA Most Valuable Players. The Bulldogs
were MIAA regular-season and tournament champions in both 2006 and 2007, and spent a portion
of the 2005 campaign ranked number-one in the national polls. Additionally, the Bulldogs have
been ranked in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll every week during his tenure as head coach.
While still at Truman, Skoch recruited the 2009 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, Megan
Sharpe.
In 2007, Skoch’s squad set season records in kills, hitting attempts, assists, digs and blocks
en route to a 36-6 overall record, an MIAA tournament title, a No. 1 seed in the South Central
Regional, and a trip to the National Sweet 16. The 36 wins were the second-most in
program history, as the team won the MIAA East division for the second-straight season.
Truman went 13-4 in 2007 against teams ranked in the top-25, including a 6-3 mark against teams in the top-10 at the time of the match. The
Bulldogs went 5-3 in matches that went five-games and were swept just once - at the hands of eventual national champion Concordia-St. Paul in the
first weekend of the season.
Skoch has demonstrated success from the outset of his Truman tenure, as in his first season at the helm, Truman finished second in MIAA play
and won the MIAA postseason tournament. After opening the season ranked second in the preseason national poll, the squad jumped up to No. 1
one week later for the first time in school history. They held the top spot for six weeks in 2005. He capped off his first season at the institution with
a South Central regional title before falling in the Elite Eight against host and national-No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney.
The Bulldogs rolled through the MIAA in 2006, going undefeated and once again capturing the MIAA tournament championship. The season
was culminated with Skoch being named MIAA Coach of the Year. The squad spent five more weeks atop the national poll late in the season, and,
after being recognized as the MIAA Coach of the Year for the first time, Skoch’s squad was again selected to host the South Central Regional.
Skoch came to Truman after spending one season as an assistant coach at Mississippi State University. He was part of a first-year coaching staff
which led Mississippi State to an improvement of 11 wins overall and tied a school record for the most wins in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.
Skoch also had previous NCAA Division II experience as he was an assistant coach at Central Oklahoma in 2003. Other coaching experience
for Skoch includes spending one season as head coach with the Stillwater Volleyball Club and the Kaeppa Oklahoma Charge Volleyball Club. He
is a former player with club teams at Penn State University, the University of Memphis and Oklahoma State University.
Skoch earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State in 1998, with a major in statistics and a minor in mathematics. He earned a
Master of Science in Statistics from Penn State in 2001.
Skoch and his wife, Karen, reside in Canyon with their children: Jay, Kyle, Kade and Emmie.

The Lady Buffs hit just .076 as a team with 34 kills on 105 swings with 26 attack errors to go along with 32 assists, two service aces, 37 digs and eight total blocks in the loss. Western New Mexico registered 38 kills on 101 attempts with 16 attack errors to hit .218 on the night with 37 assists, two service aces, 39 digs and eight total blocks.   • 4. 2017 LADY BUFF VOLLEYBALL GAME NOTES Entering his ninth season at West Texas A&M in 2017, head coach Jason Skoch looks to build upon the great success of his first eight years as the Lady Buffs’ leader. The 2014 campaign was another dominating run thru the Lone Star Conference for the Lady Buffs as they went a perfect 16-0 in league play to claim their 19th LSC Championship while registering a perfect league record for the 16th time since the 1986 season. The Lady Buffs participated in their 10th straight and 25th overall apearance in the NCAA Postseason. Skoch was named the LSC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and his fourth overall award since joining the league prior to the 2009 season. 2013 saw the Lady Buffs continue their dominance of the Lone Star Conference as the team went a perfect 16-0 in league play to claim the program’s 18th LSC Title. WT hosted the South Central Regional Tournament at “The Box” as they claimed the program’s 13th Regional Title, the Lady Buffs advanced to the National Semifinal match before falling to BYU-Hawaii in a five-set thriller. Skoch was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) South Central Region Coach of the Year as well as the LSC Coach of the Year for his efforts. The 2012 season saw the Lady Buffs claim the LSC Tournament Title after a thrilling five set win over Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas followed by WT taking the South Central Regional Championship to make the program’s 12th appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight held in Pensacola, Florida. WT finished the season with an overall record of 33-5. In 2011, the Lady Buffs went 34-3 including a 19-1 mark in the LSC for their sixth consecutive and 17th overall LSC Championship. WT made its seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason, Skoch picked up his second consecutive LSC Coach of the Year honor. The Lady Buffs put their mark in the NCAA Record Books in 2011, recording the longest conference win streak in Division II history of 87 matches from Sept. 8, 2006 – Sept. 17, 2011. In 2010, the Lady Buffs finished the season with a 27-9 overall record and a flawless 14-0 mark in the LSC. The team won its fifth consecutive LSC Championship and 16th overall. WT reached the NCAA Postseason for a sixth consecutive season before Emporia State in the opening round of the South Central Regional Tournament. Skoch was named the LSC Coach of the Year. In his first season with the team in 2009, Skoch (rhymes with ‘coach’) led the ultra-successful Lady Buffs to fourth- consecutive and 15th all-time Lone Star Conference title, 20th NCAA Regional tournament appearance and 11th NCAA Regional title, and 11th NCAA Elite Eight appearance. The team experienced their fourth National Championship match appearance in Lady Buff history and finished second behind three-time national champions, Concordia-St. Paul, finishing the season with a 39-4 record. Skoch currently boasts an incredible career win-loss record of 370-81 (.820) in his 12 years as a head coach, including a 234-61 (.793) mark in his eight seasons at the helm of the Lady Buffs. Before coming to Canyon, Skoch served as head coach at Truman State. While with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association-member, he guided the Bulldogs to four- consecutive top-10 rankings in the AVCA final poll. While at Truman State, he compiled a 137-22 record (.861), made five consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament, developed 11 All-America student-athletes as well as two MIAA Most Valuable Players. The Bulldogs were MIAA regular-season and tournament champions in both 2006 and 2007, and spent a portion of the 2005 campaign ranked number-one in the national polls. Additionally, the Bulldogs have been ranked in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll every week during his tenure as head coach. While still at Truman, Skoch recruited the 2009 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, Megan Sharpe. In 2007, Skoch’s squad set season records in kills, hitting attempts, assists, digs and blocks en route to a 36-6 overall record, an MIAA tournament title, a No. 1 seed in the South Central Regional, and a trip to the National Sweet 16. The 36 wins were the second-most in program history, as the team won the MIAA East division for the second-straight season. Truman went 13-4 in 2007 against teams ranked in the top-25, including a 6-3 mark against teams in the top-10 at the time of the match. The Bulldogs went 5-3 in matches that went five-games and were swept just once - at the hands of eventual national champion Concordia-St. Paul in the first weekend of the season. Skoch has demonstrated success from the outset of his Truman tenure, as in his first season at the helm, Truman finished second in MIAA play and won the MIAA postseason tournament. After opening the season ranked second in the preseason national poll, the squad jumped up to No. 1 one week later for the first time in school history. They held the top spot for six weeks in 2005. He capped off his first season at the institution with a South Central regional title before falling in the Elite Eight against host and national-No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney. The Bulldogs rolled through the MIAA in 2006, going undefeated and once again capturing the MIAA tournament championship. The season was culminated with Skoch being named MIAA Coach of the Year. The squad spent five more weeks atop the national poll late in the season, and, after being recognized as the MIAA Coach of the Year for the first time, Skoch’s squad was again selected to host the South Central Regional. Skoch came to Truman after spending one season as an assistant coach at Mississippi State University. He was part of a first-year coaching staff which led Mississippi State to an improvement of 11 wins overall and tied a school record for the most wins in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play. Skoch also had previous NCAA Division II experience as he was an assistant coach at Central Oklahoma in 2003. Other coaching experience for Skoch includes spending one season as head coach with the Stillwater Volleyball Club and the Kaeppa Oklahoma Charge Volleyball Club. He is a former player with club teams at Penn State University, the University of Memphis and Oklahoma State University. Skoch earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State in 1998, with a major in statistics and a minor in mathematics. He earned a Master of Science in Statistics from Penn State in 2001. Skoch and his wife, Karen, reside in Canyon with their children: Jay, Kyle, Kade and Emmie.
