Initially, in 1964, Bill Bowerman, a track coach at
the University of Oregon with his student, Philp
Knight, established a shoe company named Blue
Ribbon Sports with a budget of $500. And then in
1972, They launched their company as Nike, Inc.
and then went public in 1978. If we talk about the
ownerships and shareholders of Nike according to
the data of 2020. But as time passed, Bowerman
reduced his interest in the company and his
ownership. Today 97.5% of shares of class A are
owned by Knight and his son Travis. It is divided
into 6 top shareholders.

Every organization believes that a skilled, valued, and engaged workforce is
a key to growth and sustainability and they aim to empower suppliers to
engage with and value their people because they know that high employee
engagement leads to a more efficient, agile, and committed workforce
which results in beneficial outcomes for both the individual and the
organization.
Over the past five years, NIKE developed and implemented the Engagement
and Wellbeing (EWB) Survey to measure the level of engagement with
people and the experiences of factory workers. In addition, to perform this
task the work environment must be physically and emotionally safe, with
management actively striving to create that safe environment.
To achieve this target, we’re focusing our work on FOUR key areas.

• Driving supplier-led measurement worker’s voice
• Incorporating EWB processes into HR approaches
