HV overhead lines, and standby diesel electric generators.
Barrick Gold - Goldstrike TCM Expansion , Elko, Nevada – Sept 2012 to Feb. 2015
Package engineer (Ausenco contractor) - Responsible for the selection of the MCCs, VFDs, and LV
switchgear for the TCM Leach expansion to the Goldstrike Mine. Helped commission LV Siemens
switchgear, Allen-Bradley MCCs with DeviceNet, Toshiba G9/W7 VSDs, Liebert UPS, fiber-optic
communication network, modulating valves, safety showers, Rosemount level/pressure transmitters, and
heat tracing.
Lead controls engineer (Ausenco contractor) - Programming and commissioning of the Delta V control
system for the entire gold process. Reported to the commissioning and construction managers, attended
daily coordination and safety meetings. Supervised the installation of the electrical/instrumentation wiring,
motors, and other field devices. Troubleshooted Liebert UPS units in electrical rooms.

replace the Modicon 984 PLC control system to be used for the re-start of the Quintette coal handling plant.

Controls Lead (Ausenco contractor) - Electrical design, programming, and commissioning of stockyard
conveyors, crushers, and train loadout equipment for an open pit coal mine. Siemens S7/314 PLCs,
switchgear, and drives were used over a fiber optic Profibus network.
OIL & GAS
Pan African Energy, Tanzania – June 2015 to Sept. 2015
Lead electrical/controls engineer (Lisbon Group contractor) - Developed single line drawings, material
take off lists, load lists, cable schedules, control panel and electrical room layouts, hazardous ID layout,
power distribution and control integration study, emergency shutdown integration, and control
architecture drawings for a natural gas plant in Tanzania.
BP - Cherry Point Refinery, Ferndale, Washington – Sept 2006 to June 2007
Controls engineer (Veco Engineering contractor) - Programmed a remote control crane for unloading
cargo at the refinery dock. Used a Siemens 545 PLC interfaced with remote control joysticks.
Syncrude - UE-1 Project, Fort McMurray, Alberta – Feb 2005 to Aug 2006
Site Engineer (Honeywell contractor) - Performed Site Acceptance and Function Tests on Modicon
Quantum PLCs and Honeywell Experion DCS with foundation fieldbus for the CO Boiler area at the
Syncrude’s UE-1 expansion project. Integrated Matrikon Alarms and Events OPC software with
Triconex ESD PLCs and Trimble GPS antenna which received synchronized time data from nine
satellites to provide accurate time stamped sequence of events data.

Site Engineer (Autopro Engineering contractor) - Commissioning support for Shell’s Albian Sands refinery.
Troubleshooted the ore preparation, extraction, and froth areas using AB ControlLogix PLCs and Provox
DCS.
Tesoro Refinery - Anacortes, Washington – Jan 2001 to Feb 2002
Controls Engineer (Veco Engineering contractor) - Upgraded relay control to PLC control for a refinery
vacuum flasher. The control system used a Siemens-Moore APACs DCS interfaced to HMIs using
Wonderware Intouch software. Also performed commissioning support for the residual oil saturation
expansion.

City of Vancouver - False Creek Energy Center, Vancouver, British Columbia – April 2009 to March
2010
Lead electrical/controls engineer (Ausenco contractor) - Design, programming, and commissioning of the
False Creek Community Energy Center. Automation Direct PLCs and GE iFix HMIs were used to control
the process of turning waste water into heat energy for the Olympic Village. Interfaced the control system
to a Trane heat pump, three backup boilers, and an ACE Scada RTU.
General Motors - Motor Plant, Detroit, Michigan - Sept 2004 to Jan 2005
Controls Engineer (Dyag contractor) - Commissioned a motor assembly line. This line had local stations
each with a Siemens 314 PLC integrated with a Simatic HMI Panel over a Profibus network. Each part
was tracked by a Balogh RFID identification system. Other interfaces included Cognex vision systems
and Zebra barcode printers.
Thomson Technology, Langley, British Columbia - March 2004 to Aug 2004
Controls Engineer - Performed Factory Acceptance Tests on emergency power transfer switch panels for
Hamilton, Ontario General Hospital. Hardware used was AB PLC-5, RSView and Panelview HMIs.
Ford, - Transmission Plant, Batavia, Ohio - Sept 2003 to Feb 2004
Controls Engineer (Dyag contractor) - Commissioned a transmission assembly line. Siemens RTX PLC
were integrated with a Simatic HMI Panels over a Profibus network. Each part was tracked by a MOBY
RFID identification system. Other equipment commissioned included a leak tester controlled by a
Siemens Simodrive 611, an Atlas Clyde-Matic feeder, and ABB robot.
Daimler Chrysler - Transmission Plant, Kokomo, Indiana - Sept 2002 to Dec 2002
Controls Engineer (Dyag contractor) - Commissioned a transmission assembly line for the Chrysler
Pacifica automobile. Siemens RTX PLC were integrated with a Simatic HMI Panels over a Profibus
network. Each part was tracked by a MOBY RFID identification system. PLCs were interfaced to Nachi
robots.
Harvard International - Hanaro Industrial Plant, Inchon, Korea – Jan 1992 to Nov 1993
Controls Engineer - Supervision of factory testing and assembly line setup. Developed control system
for a prototype vending machine using a GE 90-30 PLC.

Louisiana Pacific - Pulp Mill, Chetwyn, Alberta - Jan 2003 to April 2003
Site Engineer (Autopro Engineering contractor) - Upgraded the wood room controlling conveyors using a
Siemens 314 PLC. Integrated the existing S5 PLCs to the new S7 PLC and Simatic MP270 HMI terminals
over a Profibus network. Communicated data to a Metso DCS system using a Siemens 342
communication module and Modbus protocol.
Tafisa - MDF Plant, Lac Magentic, Quebec – Jan 1999 to Aug 2000
Site Engineer (Elicon Industrial Controls) - Designed and commissioned control systems for all areas of
the plant. Control systems were designed for areas such as wood preparation, crushing, drying,
pressing, and finishing. Projects would involve the design of control panels, PLC layout drawings, cable
and wiring schedules, MCC layouts, and control circuit drawings. PLCs used were Allen-Bradley
ControlLogix and the HMI used was Wonderware’s Intouch.
Malette - MDF Plant, Grande Mere, Quebec – April 1997 to Dec 1998
Controls Engineer (Elicon Industrial Controls) - Designed and commissioned a rotating dryer control
system using an AB 5/40E PLC and Wonderware HMI.
McMillan Bloedel - MDF Plant, Clarion, Pennsylvania – March 1996 to March 1997
Site Engineer (Elicon Industrial Controls) - Developed a storage/retrieval system for a medium density
fiberboard plant using an AB 5/60 PLC and Wonderware HMI. A cart using a VFD drive would move
pallets automatically after the operator selected priority areas for storage or retrieval. Developed and
commissioned the control system for a finishing sander.

Controls Engineer (Softac) - Programmed and commissioned a laser board edger and trimmer optimizer
