2. W.A.Z. Service Machines, Inc has provided
the Houston area with the highest quality
manufacturing machine service since 1999.
We are a full service job shop that continues
to grow every year thanks to the support
of our fantastic customers. We appreciate
a good challenge and will work closely
with you to assure that our work is 100%
satisfactory and meets your needs.
W.A.Z. Service Machines, Inc is
a Houston-based job shop with
Mastercam capabilities and
superior service!
3. W.A.Z. Service Machine
started with just 2 machines,
a mill, and a lathe.
W.A.Z. Service Machines started as an
entirely hand crafted machine shop inside
a local transmission shop. Our specialty at
the time was creating high quality tooling
for oil field companies in the area. With the
foundational principles of prompt customer
service, timely turn-arounds, and willingness
to accept challenges that continues today,
W.A.Z. Service Machines quickly outgrew
the transmission shop and moved into
our own space. Over the last two decades
we continued to expand our shop, add
additional machines, and bring in even more
skilled craftsmen.
W.A.Z. Service Machines is family owned
and operated. It’s always been our tradition
to treat our employees and customers like
family. We thank God everyday that we have
the opportunity to work together for the
benefit of our customers.

6. Not only do we machine, but
we can design. This piece was
custom designed for a compa-
ny that specializes in chamfer-
ing pipes. The goal was to hold
a special tool that is designed
to chamfer pipe easily and with
more efficiency. We designed it
not only to fit any of the stan-
dard jaws but any other chuck
type as well.
We are committed to finding
ways to accomplish the
challenges our customers give
us. A custom fixture (the large
plate the cube is bolted to) for
our horizontal boring and milling
machine holds up a fabricated
cube that would otherwise not
fit in a machine. The custom
fixture allowed us to complete
this project without delay.
Everything is bigger here in
Texas. That is why there is
a saying here at the shop,
“Big requirements require big
equipment.” We have invested
in all of the right equipment for
whatever your job may be. Here
is our NEWAY VM1706 60” mill
in the process of machining an
arch onto a very large piece.
We can take whatever your
specifications are and make sure
that we create just the piece
you are looking for. With your
drawings or ours we can ensure
the precision that makes your
project a success. Here we
used our WILLIS BTM-50
50” mill to create a custom
piece based upon a customer’s
engineering diagrams.
7. Even the largest machines
sometimes cannot handle the
ideas that are dreamed up. This
piece was so large it demanded
considerable creativity to mill.
With a combination of the right
machines, and the kind of in-
genuity you do not see in most
shops, we are able to make big
ideas a reality.
Every piece we create does not
have to be one of a kind. Here we
create several of the same part
when it is needed at different
points in the same project.
Using CNC and Mastercam
we can create a part and then
precisely re-create it or make
adjustments when needed.
It is a relatively common prob-
lem that a custom adaptor from
one part to another needs to be
created. Here we are creating a
set of custom adaptor flanges
to mate two parts together. We
can take the specifications for
each part and create a custom
piece to mate the two.
A machined part should always
match its specifications. Keep-
ing true to sizes and dimen-
sions can make the difference
in whether something works or
not. Due to it’s size, this custom
piece had to be picked up and
rotated several times to com-
plete a bolt hole pattern in the
center while keeping its dimen-
sions true.
8. One of our customers, Tejas Tubular Products, is one
of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of Oil
Country Tubular Goods in the petroleum industry.
They knew that we can take on specialized jobs and
came to us with a very unique project. Their scientists
were looking to see how much oil they could extract
from different shales. They tasked us with taking
shale samples and precisely machine them so they
can be inserted in steel tubes and then drill holes
through them to simulate downhole processes.
Turning shale on a machine was an interesting
challenge , something we had never done before. The
first challenge was in keeping the brittle materials
together while machining them. Once we solved
that issue, we faced the second challenge in that the
samples were also very rich in oil. This oil content
meant that we had to keep the heat down to avoid oil
seeping out into a big mess. Though a slow process,
we were able to machine all the samples into perfect
cores. Once that was completed we then took the
very fragile pieces and drilled specific patterns down
the middle and through the piece to make angular
cross drilling simulating horizontal drilling out from
the center.
It was a challenging project but fortunately W.A.Z.
Service Machines had the skills, equipment and
patience to bring this idea to fruition.

11. Sometimes what should be a simple process can
actually be much more complex. An engineering
group came to us one day with welded up massive
steel plates weighing over 1300lbs. As part of the
building blocks for building a high speed shuttle
system, they were trying to test how long a fork truck
could last picking the plates up over and over.
To do that, they needed the plates lightened within
a very tight weight tolerance while still maintaining
the same structure and balance. The initial plan
to drill holes to create the effect would not allow
such precision and tolerance. Fortunately, after we
calculated just how much material would have to
be removed, we were able to bring the right milling
equipment into use that could machine the entire
surface of the plates down until the weight was on
target. We repeated this process with them for several
units until they had perfectly matching assemblies.
Having the right engineering skills as well as the
right equipment allows W.A.Z. Service Machines to
take on any special project that comes our way. We
have continued working with that engineering group
to build many different components for the shuttle
system. Our large CNC mill recently allowed us to
create a lightweight aluminum bumper from a large
solid block of aluminum to create one massive, strong
and lightweight piece.

12. Full Mastercam
Capabilities
We are always looking for innovative ways to complete
our customers projects with greater accuracy and
efficiency. Mastercam has become a valuable tool for
us in doing that.
Mastercam is an industry standard computer-aided
manufacturing (CAM) software utility that allows us to
take any drawing and create multi-axis views of the
desired part. It also means we can take measurements
or calculate angles to machine what is required. We can
then use Mastercam to create tool paths to program
directly into our machines to perfectly create your part.
For our customers that engineer in Mastercam, it makes
it much more convenient to send us drawings. Just
attach your Mastercam file into an email and we can
begin machining!
