4. Australian Open and
other Tennis Grand
Slams
While it’s winter in North America, down under in
Australia it’s the middle of summer and the temperatures
will be hot during the first major sporting event of the
year and the first of the tennis grand slams. The
Australian Open runs Jan. 16 - 29.
The other grand slams follow with the French Open
starting May 28, Wimbledon starting July 3 and the US
open starting Aug. 28.

5. The Super Bowl
To start off the big sports events here in the United
States, you can bet on NFL Super Bowl 51 on Feb. 5. The
game will be held in Houston, Texas this year at NRG
Stadium.
Before that, you can place your bets on the AFC and
NFC championship games, both of which take place on
Jan. 22.
Even if your team isn’t in any of the big games, you can
still get into the action by placing a wager on who you
think will win. And if your team does make it to one of
the big games, it will just add a whole new dimension of

6. World Baseball Classic
While Major League Baseball rules the diamond in North America,

9. The Kentucky Derby
Sometimes people take a back seat to animals when it
comes to sports and that’s certainly true when it comes
to horse racing. The most famous horse race in the world
is the Kentucky Derby and this year it will be held on
May 6 at Churchill Downs Race Track near Louisville,
Kentucky.
If you really love horse racing, come back for the rest of
the Triple Crown, which includes The Preakness Stakes
on May 20 and The Belmont Stakes on June 10.

10. MLB Playoffs
While the playoff schedule isn’t up yet for Major League Baseball,
the regular season finishes October 1 and the playoffs should
begin shortly after. Will you accurately predict the winners

For fans of North American soccer, the MLS playoffs will start in
October and wrap up in December. Two new teams are set to join
the league for this season and they’ll be in the hunt for the MLS

announced for the UFC for 2017, but you know there
will be some big ones coming up. Conor McGregor and
