5. How can eye injuries be prevented?
Always wear effective eye protection
To be effective, eye wear must be appropriate for the hazard encountered and
properly fitted.
Better training and education
Most workers are hurt while doing their regular jobs. Workers most often believe
that wearing protective eye wear is not required by the situation they are in.
Maintenance
Eye protection must be properly maintained. Scratched and dirty glasses reduce
vision, cause glare and may contribute to accidents

9. • Contact Lenses
• Remove any contact lenses immediately if a chemical or other substance gets
into your eye.
• The contact can hold the substance to the eye, causing major amounts of
damage.

• Irrigation should last for at least 15 minutes, even after the emergency crews
arrive.
