Wesley DeMuth – reference
I first met Mr DeMuth in mid-2012 when he began studying for his undergraduate degree, Bachelor of
Sustainability at James Cook University (JCU), Cairns. As Coordinator of this degree I oversaw Mr
DeMuth’s studies over a two-year period and I was very pleased to see that he was the first student to
graduate from this degree (the program is new and only began in February 2012). I also supervised Mr
DeMuth’s studies in three core subjects of the degree, these being; EV1011 Introduction to
Sustainability, EV2011 The Case for Sustainability and EV3011 Sustainability in Practice. Mr
DeMuth’s academic record will testify that he was an effective student with most grades for the B.
Sustainability subjects undertaken being C (credit) or D (distinction), which on the whole is quite
impressive.
In my personal experience Mr DeMuth approaches his studies in a very productive manner with a
positive attitude. I have found him to be attentive, punctual and collegial. He also related very well
with his fellow students and the other academic members of staff here at JCU. My own duties towards
Mr DeMuth were actually relatively easy because he is well organised, attentive and responded
positively to advice and comments on his work. Perhaps Mr DeMuth’s most important quality was his
enthusiasm for his studies.
In short, I found Mr DeMuth to be an enthusiastic and industrious person who evidently takes pride in
achieving and maintaining a high work standard. He responds effectively to advice and works well
with colleagues. I have every reason to believe he will continue to achieve a high work standard in the
future. I would therefore not hesitate in recommending Mr DeMuth to any organisation considering an
application from him either as a continuing student, an intern or as an employee.
