Mulberry’s new Rue Saint-Honoré boutique
British luxury brand Mulberry has opened a new
outlet on Rue Saint-Honoré. The 300sqm Paris
store offers an array of Mulberry’s best bags and
accessories, as well as of-the-moment pieces such
as the new Delphie bag. A lucky few can also pick up
their own limited-edition bag, the Cara Delevingne,
which comes in sky blue ostrich leather.
Designed with interiors that pay homage to Mulberry’s
roots in Somerset, England, the store offers visitors
an oasis of calm decorated in an earthy colour
palette and embellished with natural materials. Thierry

Kick-start your perfect day in Paris with a
leisurely breakfast at Fouquet’s (99 Avenue
des Champs-Élysées, 75008). This quintessential
French brasserie has been a popular meeting
place since opening in 1899.
After breakfast, it’s time to shop, and the Champs-
Élysées is a must for any itinerary. The tree-lined
street boasts a huge selection of shops catering
for all tastes, and the nearby high-end enclaves of
Avenue George V and Avenue Montaigne will also
leave you spoilt for choice. Don’t forget to check out
number 30 Avenue Montaigne, 75008, where the
famous House of Dior was established in 1946.
AFTERNOON
Cross the River Seine to the Left Bank for lunch at
Ralph’s – Ralph Lauren’s restaurant, nestled in the
courtyard of his flagship boutique (173 Boulevard
Saint-Germain, 75006). An all-American restaurant
with the panache of the Rive Gauche, the menu
here is an exercise in variety: from Maine lobster
to Black Angus beef, as well as steaks from Ralph
Lauren’s very own ranch in Colorado. As you would
expect, the interiors are exquisite: the tone is set
with warm, dark wood panelling and decorative
objects such as leather saddles; and if the weather
is kind, the patio with its fresh flowers and soft
cushions is the perfect place for an al fresco meal.
After lunch, stroll toward Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Bursting with historic streets and buildings, this
typically Parisian neighbourhood also boasts
gorgeous shops and the Musée Rodin. Here,
luxe outlets sit alongside independent boutiques.
Wander through the streets in the footsteps of
respected thinkers such as Albert Camus and
Jean-Paul Sartre. Also in this area, you’ll find Le
Bon Marché (24 Rue de Sèvres, 75007), Paris’s
first modern department store, founded in 1852.
No shopping day is complete without a trip
to Printemps Haussmann (64 Boulevard
Haussmann, 75009). Currently celebrating its 150th
birthday, this iconic department store is an Art
Nouveau masterpiece. Printemps recently opened
a stylish space dedicated to trendy sneakers: La
Sneaker Library.
EVENING
Stop for some wine at Café de Flore (172
Boulevard Saint-Germain, 75006), then catch a
contemporary art exhibition at Palais de Tokyo
(13 Avenue du Président Wilson, 75116). When
it’s time for dinner, treat yourself to the ultimate fine
dining experience at Le Grand Véfour (17 Rue Du
Beaujolais, 75001). A culinary institution for over
200 years, the elegant dining room is decorated
in the style of Louis XVI and headed by
Michelin-starred chef Guy Martin.

Denim
REVOLUTION
Denim is everywhere this season. Make the trend
work for you and elevate the most laid-back look
with top-quality premium pieces for instant
casual cool.
Culottes and bell bottoms
Not the easiest look to pull off, but rewarding as
long as you get the length right. Flares and bell
bottoms must go all the way to the ground; culottes
need to show off your beautifully turned ankles.
Top half
It’s all about the denim shirt or jacket this year: play
down a cocktail dress with a denim jacket or trench
for instant edge.
Full denim
The trick to this is mismatching – think dark blue
skinnies with a pale, loose denim waistcoat. If you
do want to match denims, try going for different
weights and textures.
Colour
Faded, distressed, raw, bleached, fire-engine
red, wildly patterned – it’s all back. Keep the
styling and silhouette clean and simple for a
contemporary feel.

There’s a joyous freedom in the watch industry
in 2015, the only dominant trend being a lack of
trends. This suits the kind of customer who wants
distinction, not uniformity. Peter Harrison, CEO of
Richard Mille, says: “I’m not sure there are any
trends now. We just do what we like.”
There are over-arching themes, of course.
Updated re-issues inspired by the archive are
popular; they speak to an aspirational lifestyle.
Collectors will swoon over Chopard’s Mille Miglia
GTS Power Control – the name says it all.
There is a growing interest in materials as a
touch-point of research and development: Ralph
Lauren, for instance, has introduced models with
shot-blasted steel cases, creating a distressed
effect, and has debuted dials decorated with rings
of burl wood. Other companies have explored
materials both classical and high-tech – from
bronze to meteorite via forged carbon and
advanced rubbers. Ethical considerations also
feature: last year, Chopard launched the first
watch made from ‘fair-mined’ gold and has
rolled out that idea in 2015. Richard Mille’s
RM 011 Black Night edition (pictured left)
features a case made entirely of lightweight
NTPT Carbon with a high contrast red flange
and black detailing on the skeletonised dial.
Other trends indicate a mirroring of major cultural
shifts. There is evidence of the Apple Watch
being a wake-up call for the industry. We may
see an increased electronic component: high-end
companies have this year launched timepieces
that, among other tricks, act as keys for electronic
data vaults or connect with a smartphone for
increased functionality.
But, perhaps more successfully in the long
run, there could be a deeper entrenchment
into the elite watch brands’ history and craft
– to highlight difference rather than to compete.
These timepieces will show off the craftsmanship
and revel in the art of horlogerie.

If you thought it was only rings that stack,
think again. An armful of fine bracelets, each
bearing a charm, has become part of the modern
uniform, and they are small enough to give as
a spontaneous gift, hence the name ‘friendship
bracelet’. Dior’s romantic Rose des Vents, its
compass-like motif taken from a mosaic in Christian
Dior’s garden, is typically 1970s in turquoise and
gold. Chopard’s Happy Hearts bangle in rose gold
and mother-of-pearl, meanwhile, showcases
one free-running diamond in crystal. The opposite
is the statement cuff, such as Chanel’s stunning
Coco Crush.
This season’s jewellery is about colour combinations, clever

a statement
The biggest trend in fine jewellery is women
buying for themselves instead of waiting for
a gift from a man. They buy rings in particular –
nothing is off-limits except for a diamond solitaire
(which is too much like an engagement ring).
Stacking rings are a favourite – pile them up in
your own way for maximum individuality. De Beers’
Infinity twists – available at Printemps – work
brilliantly, and Boucheron’s Quatre collection
defines the trend in a variety of golds and finishes.

Where men buy diamonds, women opt for colour

match an outfit or jazz up a plain dress. No one
does colour better than Victoire de Castellane
at Dior and the unexpected mixes of her new
Diorama Précieuse collection – based on the
flying ribbons of a couture dress – are stunning,

Head down early and you may find a seat for
breakfast at the world-famous Ladurée bakery
(21 Rue Bonaparte, 75006).
Afterwards, take a short walk to number 21
Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, and enjoy

ready-to-wear fashion to fine jewellery. A few
doors away at number 29 is Lancôme, offering

Royal is a peaceful haven amid the bustle of
Paris. Lined with beautiful trees, the courtyard,
which is open to the public, also comprises
400-year-old arcades that now house

Here, visitors can also ﬁnd one of the oldest
restaurants in the city – Le Grand Véfour,

Take a walk to the Tuileries Garden – at the end is the
Louvre and its most famous exhibit, the Mona Lisa.
The Avenue des Champs-Elysées is known among
the French as la plus belle avenue du monde (the
most beautiful avenue in the world). Located in Paris’
8th Arrondissement, this 2km-long avenue is lined
with breathtaking architecture, luxury shops, cafés
and perfectly manicured trees, as well as museums
and important landmarks.

Completed in 1720, Place Vendôme is a grand
square (more accurately, an octagon) in Paris’ 1st
Arrondissement. Equidistant to the busy Place de
l’Opéra, Place de la Concorde, and Place de la
Madeleine, it is a haven of 17th century elegance
and contemporary luxury.
MORNING
Start your day with coffee at Télescope at number
5 Rue Villedo, then turn into Place Vendôme, the
home of haute joailleries. At number 1, you’ll find
Chopard; Boucheron is at number 26.
AFTERNOON
When it’s time to refuel, stop for lunch at Le First
Restaurant Boudoir at the Westin Hotel (234
Rue de Rivoli, 75001). Then wander up Rue de
Castiglione to take a peek at Maison Auclert,
Vanessa Bruno, H. Stern, Maison Barrie and
Causse. Walk up to Rue de la Paix for Christofle,
Folli Follie and Lalique.
Turn into Rue Cambon where, at number 31,
Chanel opened its first Paris boutique – the
