How to root 4.4.2 kitkat on your samsung galaxy s4 i9505
1. How To Root 4.4.2 Kitkat On Your
Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505
Below you can find out how to root the S4 running on the Kitkat firmware, 4.4.2.
2. Prerequisites
A. You must have a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505, the guide will not work on a different model.
You can check the model on the box or in the phone’s information through the settings.
B. A PC running Windows. A tablet with Windows x86 will work.
C. Optional but highly recommended: Perform a backup of your phone’s 4.4.2 firmware, maybe
by following these directions.
D. Install the Samsung drivers can be found at this link.
E. Download this zip package onto your computer and extract it to a folder (preferably empty) on
your PC. You will therefore:
- Odin3-v3.07.exe
- Odin3.ini
- Self-CF-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.tar.md5
- tmax.dll
- zlib.dll
Make sure to download all files from xdawhizz.com
3. The Complete Guide
We begin now with the actual guide to get root access on our Galaxy S4.
Disconnect the phone from your PC if connected.
2. Open the application odin3-v3.07.exe
3. Boot your phone in Download Mode by following these instructions:
4. Turn it off and wait 5-10 seconds after the screen is turned off.
5. Simultaneously press these keys until you see a screen Warning !: Volume Down + Power +
Home.
6. Press Volume Up to enter Download Mode.
7. Now that you are in Download Mode, connect your PC to the phone. Odin will show message
“Added !!” in the box below.
4. 8. If you do not have this message:
9. Make sure you have installed the drivers as required above.
10. Use a different USB port (2.0 if your computer is not very recent).
11. Re-install the drivers.
12. Try a different USB cable.
13. Reboot your phone and PC, and start from the first point of this part of the guide.
14. Select the file CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.zip which you extracted
earlier in the PDA program.
15. Make sure the Re-Partition is unchecked. Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time must be selected.
Do not touch anything else.
16. Double-check that everything is set up correctly.
17. Click the Start button to begin the flashing. At the end of the process Odin will show you a
message PASS! in the upper part.
18. The phone will automatically restart. Only now you can disconnect it from your computer.
Now it should be rooted. To check, download the root checker app from the Google Play Store.
5. If it failed to root you may have done something wrong, and you need to re-do the whole
process. But in most cases just remove the battery and restart from the beginning of our guide.
Now you finally should have root permissions on your new phone!
