Title: Senior Manager Network Optimisation
Employer: TFMC (Centurion Head Office)
Period: 05-2013 to 12-2013
Responsibilities:
 Managed the Telkom MSAN rollout nationally which was a four year multi -million Rand program.
 Once the MSAN technology was installed, optimised the Telkom exchanges from an environmental
equipment perspective and electrical consumption.
 Investigated the possibility of removing all equipment from the exchanges and selling of the Telkom
properties to generate additional revenue for Telkom.
 Researched technological trends to provide Telkom adequate technical support.
 Member of the Data Centre, Equipment Building and Non Equipment Building Executive Liaison forums.
 Managed other adhoc national TFMC and Telkom projects.
Title: Senior Manager Building Management System Integration (BMSI) and Senior Manager National Energy
Optimisation Need (NEON)

BMSI
 Nationally ensured the reliability and availability of the BMSI systems from both a monitoring and control
perspective.

prevented facility failures in the Telkom portfolio.

employees required to perform their jobs effectively.
 Managed a budget of approximately R 9.6 million per annum.
 Promoted the BMSI installations on all new projects nationally and obtained the relevant funding for the
installation of this equipment.
 Managed the maintenance of these installations once the projects were completed, through its life cycle.
 Managed new developments within the BMSI environment ensuring that best practices in the industry is
known, and the latest equipment and methods of installation was pursued.
 Developed reports from the archived information for facility management, especially in the area of energy

NEON
 In respect to NEON, optimised the utility accounts for the National Telkom portfolio.
 Normalised the account data for electricity and water to identify anomalies and rectified them.
 Investigated tariff structures and selected the correct ones.
 Conducted facility energy and water audits, and identified potential savings from an equipment efficiency
perspective and fit for purpose.

 Worked in India for 11 weeks to pursue the viability of a Joint Venture (JV) with a construction company
in South India.

Responsibilities:
 Key account manager for the growth and maintenance capital budgets for the Telkom equipment
buildings. Responsible to ensure milestone dates and cash flow forecasts were adhered to. The expected
spend for the 07/08 budget year was R 400 million.
 Ensured all Telkom Strategic and Critical facilities were provided with quality service and there was
adherence to the Service Level Agreements. This deliverable required me being responsible for 120 sites

nationally that generated billions of Rand’s of revenue for Telkom. These sites were Telkom’s highest
revenue generators.
 Developed a divisional budget and worked within these budget constraints. Managed a budget of
R 2 million.
 Being responsible for the profit centre budget, it was required that the costs on soft services,
maintenance, utilities etc. was analysed per building and discrepancies identified between similar
buildings to optimise our services.
 Integrated the electrical, HVAC, fire, security, infrastructure, project, business case, design, property,
workplace, cleaning, hygiene, gardening, and pest control services to provide a seamless service to
Telkom.
 Instituted site specific Facilities Management Master Plans, which, took into consideration the 5 year
maintenance plans, space and energy optimisation, projects, life cycle costing, and capital funds that were
required.
 Provided a complete asset management database for Telkom.
 Advised Telkom on new developments within the Telecommunications and Data centre environments and
ensured that their facilities were capable of adopting this new technology.
 Performed Customer Relations Management functions with the senior management of Telkom.
 Ensured corporate governance, and adherence to all legislation for example the Occupational Health and
Safety Act and suppliers met the BBBEE policies.
 Initiated succession planning and the empowering of employees through coaching and mentoring.
 Promoted a customer centric culture within the organisation.
 Developed performance contracts and conducted performance appraisals.
 Chaired the Telkom Executive Liaison Committee (ELC) meeting on behalf of TFMC.
 Deliverables included being nationally responsible for Service Delivery in the Technical Security
environment for Equipment & Non Equipment Telkom sites.
 Deliverables included being responsible for the Telkom Data Centres from an engineering perspective.
 Ensured all single discipline projects in the region where planned, and met both the financial and delivery
date commitments.

budgetary constraints. Managed a budget of R 3.4 million.

 Performed reliability, availability, maintainability and risk audits on various sites in the North Eastern
Region. The portfolio consisted of 926 buildings and 2100 mast sites.
 Responsible for the approval of functional failure and special investigation reports for the operational
environment.

Responsibilities:
 Performed Base Line Audits where it was required to determine the electrical and standby capacity of the
equipment and how it will support Telkom's infrastructure and also the available life expectancy of the
equipment.
 Needed to determine the capital costs for upgrading or replacing the systems.
 Compiled electrical reports from the audit that was captured to a system called Infam.
 As a project co-ordinator it was required to ensure that the Cell C maintenance was carried out according
to the SLA’s contractually agreed to between TFMC and Cell C. The Cell C contract entailed maintaining
the infrastructure, fire and access, air-conditioning and electrical systems of the Cell C containers and
masts.

Responsibilities:
 Managed the Planning and Administration section i.e. the Resource Co-ordinators and Time Sheet

CURRICULUM VITAE / RESUME OF YOGANDRAN (IVAN) GOVENDER E-MAIL – ivan.govender@bidvestfm.co.za CELL - +27 82 371 3900 Title: Senior Manager Network Optimisation Employer: TFMC (Centurion Head Office) Period: 05-2013 to 12-2013 Responsibilities:  Managed the Telkom MSAN rollout nationally which was a four year multi -million Rand program.  Once the MSAN technology was installed, optimised the Telkom exchanges from an environmental equipment perspective and electrical consumption.  Investigated the possibility of removing all equipment from the exchanges and selling of the Telkom properties to generate additional revenue for Telkom.  Researched technological trends to provide Telkom adequate technical support.  Member of the Data Centre, Equipment Building and Non Equipment Building Executive Liaison forums.  Managed other adhoc national TFMC and Telkom projects. Title: Senior Manager Building Management System Integration (BMSI) and Senior Manager National Energy Optimisation Need (NEON) Employer: TFMC (Centurion Head Office) Period: 09-2009 to 04-2013 and 08-2010 to 08-2011 respectively Responsibilities: BMSI  Nationally ensured the reliability and availability of the BMSI systems from both a monitoring and control perspective.  Through the monitoring and controlling of facilities, proactively identified equipment failures and prevented facility failures in the Telkom portfolio.  Performance managed employees, day to day human resource functions and identified skills that employees required to perform their jobs effectively.  Managed a budget of approximately R 9.6 million per annum.  Promoted the BMSI installations on all new projects nationally and obtained the relevant funding for the installation of this equipment.  Managed the maintenance of these installations once the projects were completed, through its life cycle.  Managed new developments within the BMSI environment ensuring that best practices in the industry is known, and the latest equipment and methods of installation was pursued.  Developed reports from the archived information for facility management, especially in the area of energy management. NEON  In respect to NEON, optimised the utility accounts for the National Telkom portfolio.  Normalised the account data for electricity and water to identify anomalies and rectified them.  Investigated tariff structures and selected the correct ones.  Conducted facility energy and water audits, and identified potential savings from an equipment efficiency perspective and fit for purpose.  Initiated Business Cases for any projects that are required due to the facility audits.  Ensured energy efficient equipment was installed on new projects.  Monitored check meters for anomalies and rectified discrepancies.  Developed software that will allow the NEON team to perform account analysis.  Performed measurement and verification for any savings initiative registered.

Title: National Facilities Manager Strategic and Critical Sites Employer: TFMC (Centurion Head Office) Period: 07-2006 to 12-2007 Responsibilities:  Key account manager for the growth and maintenance capital budgets for the Telkom equipment buildings. These sites were Telkom’s highest revenue generators.  Developed a divisional budget and worked within these budget constraints. Managed a budget of R 2 million.  Being responsible for the profit centre budget, it was required that the costs on soft services, maintenance, utilities etc. was analysed per building and discrepancies identified between similar buildings to optimise our services.  Integrated the electrical, HVAC, fire, security, infrastructure, project, business case, design, property, workplace, cleaning, hygiene, gardening, and pest control services to provide a seamless service to Telkom.  Instituted site specific Facilities Management Master Plans, which, took into consideration the 5 year maintenance plans, space and energy optimisation, projects, life cycle costing, and capital funds that were required.  Provided a complete asset management database for Telkom.  Advised Telkom on new developments within the Telecommunications and Data centre environments and ensured that their facilities were capable of adopting this new technology.  Performed Customer Relations Management functions with the senior management of Telkom.  Ensured corporate governance, and adherence to all legislation for example the Occupational Health and Safety Act and suppliers met the BBBEE policies.  Initiated succession planning and the empowering of employees through coaching and mentoring.  Promoted a customer centric culture within the organisation.  Developed performance contracts and conducted performance appraisals.  Chaired the Telkom Executive Liaison Committee (ELC) meeting on behalf of TFMC.  Deliverables included being nationally responsible for Service Delivery in the Technical Security environment for Equipment & Non Equipment Telkom sites.  Deliverables included being responsible for the Telkom Data Centres from an engineering perspective.  Ensured all single discipline projects in the region where planned, and met both the financial and delivery date commitments.  Deliverables included being responsible for the project co-ordinators (PCO’s) in the North Eastern Region. Title: Engineering Manager Employer: TFMC (Roseville) Period: 07-2004 to 06-2006 Responsibilities:  Developed short to medium term regional Maintenance Engineering budget and worked within those budgetary constraints. The portfolio consisted of 926 buildings and 2100 mast sites.  Responsible for the approval of functional failure and special investigation reports for the operational environment.  Chaired the Funding Review Board and green areas meetings.  Reviewed, refined and defined business processes to ensure work was completed efficiently and effectively.  Deliverables included being responsible for transformation and change management as part of the management team.  Involved in national projects in an advisory capacity to ensure long term sustainability. Title: Specialist (Electrical and Standby Plants) and Project Co-ordinator Employer: TFMC (Durban) Period: 03-2003 to 06-2004 Responsibilities:  Performed Base Line Audits where it was required to determine the electrical and standby capacity of the equipment and how it will support Telkom's infrastructure and also the available life expectancy of the equipment.  Needed to determine the capital costs for upgrading or replacing the systems.  Compiled electrical reports from the audit that was captured to a system called Infam.  As a project co-ordinator it was required to ensure that the Cell C maintenance was carried out according to the SLA’s contractually agreed to between TFMC and Cell C. The Cell C contract entailed maintaining the infrastructure, fire and access, air-conditioning and electrical systems of the Cell C containers and masts. Title: Service Manager Employer: TFMC (Durban) Period: 07-2002 to 02-2003 Responsibilities:  Managed the Planning and Administration section i.e. the Resource Co-ordinators and Time Sheet Capturers. The tasks involved was the monitoring of the planning of Preventative Maintenance, Planned Corrective Maintenance and Emergency work orders to ensure data integrity and effective operations.  Controlled the issuing of work to contractors and the generation of purchase orders for the work being performed.  Monitored and corrected the working hours captured by the Administrative staff.  Controlled the work order statuses.
