2. What is the problem?
Picking a dress that suits specific figure is a tough task. It is:
● time-consuming
● difficult
● tiring
When a woman buys online it's a lottery whether the dress will suit her or not.
This results in up to 40% of clothes returned to the e-retailer (according to
IMRG). Returns are not only a problem for women as they waste a lot of time
but also for retailers, who suffer from big losses.
3. What solutions are available?
● bodymetrics.com - using body scanner
they create 3D model and then visualise
dresses on it.
● clotheshor.se - website only helps you get
a correct size, which is not enough to look
well in a dress.
● asos.com - women buy 3-4 different
dresses and because of free returns keep
only the one that suits them the best.
4. What is our solution?
We are building a system that recommends dresses, mainly for USA market.
You just have to type in measurements and we give you a list of dresses that
will most probably suit your figure.
5. How do we do this?
We use hybrid of crowd sourcing and machine learning algorithms:
1. We get your measurements
2. We find users with similar proportions of the body and preferences
3. We suggest you dresses that suited those users
The efficiency of our solution grows parallelly with user count. Until we get
bigger user database we will use tagging system, which require manual input.
6. Our Business Model
Our business model is simple, effective and
common - we get up to 10% commission from
every sale made through our sites.
The USA online retailers are very open to new
technologies and we had no problem in
participating in affiliate programs even with shops
as big as Amazon. Right now we have a big enough
dress database.
7. Our plans
We have many different ideas for further development, including providing
solution also for male customers, getting measurements from pictures, going
in direction of social networking and many others.
In the nearest future we will get up to 50 users to see how they behave on our
site, what are their expectations and which way should we go next. We have to
make some small changes on our site and we would like to work on our
machine learning algorithm.
Afterwards we plan to get more users through cooperation with fashion
bloggers, sending measuring tapes for potential customers or other
advertisement. We plan to go to the Silicon Valley, because it's so cool.
