Priority Claims service
As a company we place great priority on our claims service. We take treating Customers fairly very
seriously and indeed want to make sure that when having a claim our clients receive everything
from insurers for which they are entitled whilst keeping the lifetime of a claim to a minimum to
avoid disruption.
As part of our claims management service, you will be introduced to our claims manager as your policy
comes into force so you get to know the person who will actually be handling the claim. Even more
importantly they will get to know your business. So in the event of a loss they will be familiar with your
operations and be able to provide speedy authorisation of works to be carried out.
As soon as you contact us regarding a claim you will be given advice on the next steps to be taken
where required, details of contractors or other experts that you may need to be brought in to help
resolve the problem quickly and efficiently.
We operate an out of hours phone service so we are always at the end of the phone should
disaster strike.
More Claims Paid
As our policies are bespoke written for the hospitality industry many claims we pay would not have
been covered under a standard commercial insurance policy.

Are you aware that some of your biggest risk exposures may
be excluded?
A hotel is generally insured against physical damage such as fire and storm, but claims that arise from
external events that do NOT impact your business physically are EXCLUDED?
To solve this problem Gauntlet Insurance have developed a range of new covers which can be purchased
separately to fill the gaps.
Fear of Terrorism
Your business could lose revenue due to a major terrorism incident deterring your customers from travelling.
For example, many UK Hotels lost significant income following 9/11 due to the fact that its global customer
base was disinclined to travel.
If the connection is evident, under this policy, you can insure your losses due to guest’s anxiety following a
terrorism event.
Fear of Disease/Epidemic
When an issue such as Foot and Mouth occurs, even though the actual contamination area may be many
miles away, a hotel may experience a significant reduction in customer numbers. Diseases such as BSE or
Avian flu may have a similar effect on your customer base.
If the connection is evident, under this policy, you can insure your loss of customers due to the public reaction
to the disease.
Perils of Nature
Extreme weather, though not directly affecting or damaging your premises, could still prevent or influence
your trading. For example you may close your hotel due to the threat of a storm that ultimately fails to damage

Loss of Revenue/Income due to Strikes
