Konstantine, 13, of Lake Forest, Illinois, founded Always
Ready Kids (ARK) in the aftermath of recent disasters. He wanted to
help other kids understand the importance of being knowledgeable
about safety and provide them with safety packs so that they could be
better protected during an emergency.
Always Ready Kids is a youth-run volunteer organization that helps
kids around the world prepare for disasters by giving them safety
cards, safety lectures, and preparation packets with basic emergency
supplies. Presently, ARK has distributed over 600 safety packets
and has worked with over 1,300 people around the world. ARK has
formed chapters in the U.S.A., Cyprus, and Greece and is presently
working on starting another chapter in Finland.
Always Ready Kids creates and distributes safety packs that youth
can easily carry in their backpacks. Team members have spoken
with police, fire, and military officials, school administrators, and
various groups of schoolchildren about safety. In addition to disaster-
preparedness, ARK helps raise money for disaster relief efforts. “ARK WORKS TO EDUCATE YOUNG
PEOPLE SO THEY CAN
