Mattel is an old company which started out in wood products and is now a branched market leader in design with its head quarters in El Segundo, California
Mattel is a manufacturer ,and marketer of family products and Toys .
It was formed in 1945 by Ruth and Elliot Handler and Harold “Matt” Matson(‘Mattel’ is a combination of Elliot and Matt’s names).
Currently Mattel is operating and marketing its products in more than 150 nations around the world , and owning offices in 36 countries.
Mattel’s well known toy brands include Barbie, Fisher-price, Disney entertainment lines, Hot wheels and Matchbox cars , Tyco toys, Cabbage patch kids and board games such as scrabble. In addition ,Mattel promotes international sales by tailoring toys for specific international markets.

  4. 4.  Issues -Mattel’s toy manufacturer under managerial control of CEO Jill Barad from 1997-february 2000 could be characterized with the chief Executive style being both strict and business-people oriented  Mattel’s road to success had not always been smooth. In 1997 problems of sales deteriorating began sharply and worsened when Mattel bought a software maker The learning Co.  In 2000 Jill resigned and Robert Eckert became the new CEO resulting to a turn around.  Robert cut 350 jobs , and sold the software maker , eliminating also marginally profitable toy lines . He also started buying products related to literal phenomenon line Harry potter ,also home electronics , movies , home furniture.
  5. 5. Mattel’s Ethical Practices compared to Other companies  One of the most important aspects of any company is safety of the employer, employees but most importantly the customer. Mattel acknowledges this and has made some practices which have become the company’s culture unlike other companies.
