- It starts with a ringtone: this is useful as it connects directly to their topic and
the ringtone is appropriate to start with as the function of a ringtone is to get
attention.
Wildtrack/ambient
sound?
N/A There is no background sound
Use of music? - The music is techno like which cleverly ties in with the topic being on a
platform of technology. The music escalates in terms of the textures in the
piece, which keeps it exciting. The music runs consistently throughout the
piece.
Sound levels? The voiceover is louder than other tracks (music and expert dialogue): this is
conventional as this should be the overriding voice of the radio trail.
The sound quality is very good, clear and comprehensive which is the mean
criteria
Length? About 1 min 6
Opinion I believe this is a successful radio trail. It demonstrates the simplicity of
making one in terms of the tracks needed as they had a voice over one
expert and the music running all the way through. Although I would add some
subjectivity maybe flash some voxpops instead of just having the two as it
might come across too serious in terms of our target audience. The quality of
the piece is something to look up to and the sound is very clear and the
transitions are unnoticeable which is required for this product.

Radio Trails: Existing Products Research Trail for (station/channel) & Details Channel 4 – Wednesday 9pm Documentary Title/topic “Mobile phones a necessity or a luxury” Mobile Phone use Target audience Teens – Mobile phone dependency is heavily associated with teens and the Voiceover says “have we” the pronoun indicates as the voiceover is a teen that the product is also targeted toward Tone of voice? Voiceover: Informative, fast pace, exaggeration “than ever before”, “groundbreaking” conventional to grab attention Sound effects? (SFX) - It starts with a ringtone: this is useful as it connects directly to their topic and the ringtone is appropriate to start with as the function of a ringtone is to get attention. Wildtrack/ambient sound? N/A There is no background sound Use of music? - The music is techno like which cleverly ties in with the topic being on a platform of technology. The music escalates in terms of the textures in the piece, which keeps it exciting. The music runs consistently throughout the piece. Sound levels? The voiceover is louder than other tracks (music and expert dialogue): this is conventional as this should be the overriding voice of the radio trail. The sound quality is very good, clear and comprehensive which is the mean criteria Length? About 1 min 6 Opinion I believe this is a successful radio trail. It demonstrates the simplicity of making one in terms of the tracks needed as they had a voice over one expert and the music running all the way through. Although I would add some subjectivity maybe flash some voxpops instead of just having the two as it might come across too serious in terms of our target audience. The quality of the piece is something to look up to and the sound is very clear and the transitions are unnoticeable which is required for this product.
