2. Natural disaster ..
is a effect of a natural hazard – e.g. volcanic
eruption, earthquakes, landslides, floods and
tornadoes, avalanches.
It is the force of nature, which affects the
environment and leads to environmental, financial
and/or human losses.
The term natural has consequently been disputed
because the events simply are not hazards or
disasters without human involvement.
It is usually the secondary events that the disasters
trigger.
3. There is also an extra categorization for fire-, health
and disease- and space disasters.
8. 1)Environment
Volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, wildfires
and mudslides often permanently alter an
area's landscape, leading in some cases
to the destruction of a local species.
9. 2) Economic Concerns
Even a minor storm can cause
considerable damage. At the very least,
the local economy must be able to
absorb the cost of cleanup and repairs.
According to the National Hurricane Center,
Hurricane Katrina cost the U.S. $75 billion when it
slammed into New Orleans in August 2005. That
doesn't include the damage caused in the Florida
counties of Miami-Dade and Broward by the same
storm.

11. 3)Indirect Effects
Natural disasters almost always lead to a
disruption in utility services around the
area impacted. Medical assistance is
often slowed. Banks and other businesses
might be closed, affecting a family's
ability to withdraw money to pay bills and
buy groceries. People have to move.
12. 4)Physical Destruction
Buildings
are collapsing and swept away,
posessions destroyed – all this leads to
leaving families homeless, shutting down
businesses.

14. 5)Emotional toll
Theemotional toll of natural disasters is
much more devastating. The death of a
loved one, whole communities may be
displaced, separating friends and
neighbors, victims face anxiety and
depression as they wonder if it could
happen again. In extreme cases, they
may experience post traumatic stress
disorder.
17. Going through a natural
disaster is not understandable
for people, who haven´t gone
through these kind of
tragedies. But those people
can always help the victims by
donating clothes, money and
other things that are needed.
