These exercises are meant to increase flexibility in the lower body by stretching the hip flexors and quadriceps. The exercises include variations of hip flexor stretches from both a standing, kneeling, and lying down position. Holding each stretch and repeating on the opposite side allows individuals to improve mobility and range of motion in their lower bodies.

Exercises – Mobility and stretches lower body
These exercises can be used to increase flexibility in the lower body.
Hip Flexor (psoas, kneeling and lying)
1. From a upright standing position take a big step
forward and bend both legs with the front knee directly
over the ankle keeping the back straight lower the hips
bringing the rear heel off the ground
2. Kneeling hip flexor - From a kneeling position
pull the heel towards the buttock and use the opposite
arm to balance.
3. Lying sideways on the floor with the hips level
grab hold of the upper leg by the foot and pull in
towards the buttock. Place the supporting arm under
the head.
Repeat on opposite side.
4. Side Lying Hip flexor - Lying on the side place the
arm underneath the side of the head, bending the lower
leg slightly to balance, take hold of the opposite foot and
pull the heel in towards the buttock.
5. Push the hips forwards for greater depth of stretch
feeling the stretch in the hip flexors and quadriceps. Repeat on opposite side.
