3. Antitussive . Facts: This drug is used for suppressing the urge to cough. Antitussive is not addictive and works for animals and humans alike. Most opiates or opioids suppress cough by using the cough center which is actually the medulla oblongata. Except this drug is addictive .
4. Expectorant Facts: 1. This medicine helps aid a patient to cough up mucus in the respiratory tract, by reducing adhesiveness and surface tension. 2. Promotes secretion from the mucous membrane of the air passages and facilitates mucus expulsion.
5. Mucolytic Facts: 1. This is a medicine that destroys or dissolves mucus. 2. Mucus is liquefied making it easier to clear the respiratory tract. 3. Mucolytic agents (or expectorant) dissolves thick mucus and is usually used to help relieve respiratory difficulties.
